Hi,

I'm new to this forum, so forgive me if this one has been beaten into the ground before!...
Does anyone make a cold air intake for a 2007 V6 Escape or Mariner? I'm beginning to think I'm between a rock and a hard place here because of a "one year only" application. It appears that '06 and older use a different design, and '08 and newer have their own application as well. My mom's 09 is totally different than our '07. Anyone know what's up, or if an existing design can be modified to work? I'm very mechanically inclined, so mods aren't a problem unless impractical or excessive.

Thanks, Todd

07s and 08s are the same. They have the MAF integrated into the airbox. About the only option out there is WeaponR (on ebay). A few have tried them. I don't know if I'd trust their filter. You could always use their piping, and a different (AEM, aFe, K&N) filter on the end. I had an Airaid drop-in, and it worked good (better quality than K&N drop-in).

Thanks, kkreit01,
I already have the AiRaid drop in filter. You're right, it is a higher quality design, but I noticed no apparent increase in either gas mileage or power. I believe this is because of the fairly restrictive design of the air flow into the airbox, itself. I guess my next move is to see if it would be practical to try and remove the mass air flow sensor from the airbox lid, and retro-fit it to an existing cold air kit or filter adapter. I just don't know... I wonder if an mass-air sensor from a '06 would plug into my '07's electrical harness, and work correctly? I'll have to check out that brand of cold air kit you were talking about, as well.

Make sure you buy the "08" one, and not the "05 06 07". We know they changed in 07. I had an 07 & 08 Mariner. Like I said previously, I don't know if I'd trust their foam filter, but you could always use a Pro-Dry S (aFe), AEM Dry Flow, Amsoil, etc. I've read some good things about WeaponR's intakes. I've also read their quality/fit isn't always 100%. I've read some poor things about their other items. Google their "Secret Weapon" intakes, and read some reviews prior to purchasing. I think they will also make custom pipes (but will probably cost as mush as their kit).

I've done some more checking, and on my '07 Mariner, the MAF sensor is still in the intake tubing-not the airbox lid. Just like the '06 and earlier models. It might have something to do with it being a pretty early production model, I don't know. At any rate my primary concern, now, is making sure there is enough cool airflow into the area where the new cone filter would sit. I would obviously baffle it off like stlxlt05 did with his $15.00 cold air kit design. I'm just worried that the factory cold air duct that supplies air from behind the headlight, might not provide enough air for the bigger filter capacity to add any benefit. The hole leading into this duct-where it connects at the front of the car, behind the headlight, is pretty small. Probably to silence intake noise. I think there is a big round opening right below the fuseblock on the fender, but ducting this into the insulated baffle area could prove tricky. I'll have to do more research on this... :thumb:

Hi there! My friend just recently bought an 07 Mariner and he was wanting to replace it with an aem cold air intake but we're both wondering if it would perform well because we're still quite newbies about that part. Does anyone of you have tried using it? I'll appreciate any opinions or suggestions of brands.
