Hi! This is my first message here. I have a question I couldn't find on the fourm. I have a 2012 Ford Escape It's the one with the 4 cylinders in a straight line on top. It looks like there are only 2 sensors on this model. It was throwing a bad CAT code but I got that replaced so I assume it's the sensors.

So my question is. What are the exact replacements I need to replace both of them? Like part numbers or links if you got em. Also I'm not quite sure how to take the top one off. It looks like a aluminum plate on the top covering most of it. Does that need to be removed?

Back up a bit... It's unlikely you actually need new O2 sensors. They are just reporting what they see.

What was the original fault code?
Was it reset?
Is the current fault code the same or is it different?
What was the EXACT replacement cat (make and part number) that was installed?
How long after the cat replacement did it take for a concern to be noticed again?
Are there any other drivability concerns or other recent repairs made to the engine or exhaust systems?

BTW, you can look up part numbers on Ford dealer's websites or on Rockauto.

I would only add that if you do end up needing to replace one or both sensors, you will need a socket that fits the sensors. It seems they are all the same size(someone at least had a good idea), and there are several different styles available.
If you think yours will come out easy, HF has one that it not too expensive(well, as of a year plus ago), and it worked for me on an old Ranger 2.3 with the factory 02 from 1984 when built. It took an impact to break it loose, but it did come out.
If you don't want to buy the special socket, you can nip the wires and use a regular socket. I tend to keep old parts for various reasons, so bought the socket. You may not want that, so can cut as you desire.
Added... If you are basing the replacement on a parts store telling you this code means that... Do a little research before spending the money. For example, the P0174/175(not absolute) lean codes can be caused on Ford products by a failing DPFE sensor. Why is not for me to figure out. But you can replace all the O2's and will still get the code.... so do not take the codes at 'face value'.
