--I'm going in for eye surgery on Tuesday, and am very nervous about a chronic cough I have from a Post Nasel Drip.
Since I'll be semi awake, I'm afraid I'll cough during the procedure.
I've tried Zyrtec, Claritan, Zinc
swabs, Robitussin cold & cough, prescription nasel spray, etc. and
it just doesn't go away.
It's so bad, I loose a lot of sleep and my husband complains that I wake him up with the coughing.
Does anyone have this problem, and if so has anything worked for you?
Tonight, I'm going to try Benadryl, which sometimes works for my Brother.

IMO, You may want to get a check-up with a ENT (ears, nose, throat) specialist. Just maybe they can pin-point the cause. I've had some results using the Breath-Right nasal stripes. I know they are mainly for snoring. But, I don't seem to get as much goop in the A.M. Also this is ragweed time here. So I've been plugged up off and on......... Hope this helps........ PK

I've had similar problems several times in the past. Each time it would last for around 3 months... I thought I had a nasal infection but the Dr's said I didn't. That it was allergies. All they told me was to take Claritin-D. It should clear up. It helped a little but in the end I just had to live through it until it cleared up on its own.

I wish you lots of luck getting this cleared up Estelle. I know what a pain it is...

---I took the Benadryl last night and it worked!.
I talked to the nurse today, and she said I could take it prior to the surgery, so that's a big relief.
Thank you all for the good wishes and suggestions.
To all of you that have allergies, I have tried the new 'Little Allergies' nasal
ointment, made by Chloraceptic. It did work somewhat, but I think it is
mainly for kiddies. They do make a stronger dosage product for adults under their brand name.
Both are kinda expensive. $13 and $15 for a very small tube.
If you buy it, only use a dab as big as the tip of a pencil point.
Thanks again for all the input.
I should be back in a couple of days.

Right eye all Done.
Went into the facility at 8:00 AM.
Laid on a table, IV in arm.
Never even remember going into the surgery.
Next thing I know, I"m sitting in a chair, and the nurse is asking me
if I wanted something to drink.
I said a coffee would be nice.
Drank my coffee and by 10:00 AM, I was out the door heading home.
Could see perfect with the right eye as soon as I opened it.
It was Amazing!

Did you do implants?

Or the laser?
--A permanent lens implant in the right eye.
I'm getting the left eye done Oct. 6th.
So far it is feeling normal.
I have to put three separate medication drops in the eye four times a day, until the doctor determines it is sufficiently healed.
