Hello All,

I have a 2010 Ford Escape Limited Hybrid (with the Navigation / Sync 1 double DIN deck) and I hate Sync 1......

I want to install something like the Phoenix: https://phoenixautomotiveinc.com/produc ... c820&_ss=r

or the Rhino: https://rhinoradios.com/products/univer ... esla-style

Obviously I will need harnesses to fit my vehicle..... Does anyone have a recommendation for where I can source Ford style harnesses for one of the radios above? Even if I have to have them custom made.

I already have a source to customize the Firmware!

Cheers

How much integration do you want? Retain parts of Sync (hate it or not)? Steering wheel controls? XM? Hybrid power drive display (probably no solution for this)?

There are wiring adapters for the audio and power, but for the other stuff those head units usually do that require CANBUS connection you will probably need to do that on your own (I am not sure how much of that would work in your vehicle).

I can't believe that tacking on a tablet in portrait or landscape is so sought after. The portrait SYNC3 screen in the 2020 Explorer looks so crappy as it does on most new cars, not just Fords.

The decks I am looking at have Canbus inputs to retain the Steering Wheel Controls, etc. The programmer that I have for the custom firmware said that he would be able to input the Hybrid Battery flow info.

It will have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android audio capabilities, so I am not concerned about keeping any of the OEM Sync features.

I have heard of people using 3D printers to make harnesses, I was just looking for some input. Personally I like the look of the Tesla style screens.

It looks like the wiring for this install would be like almost any other replacement head unit. Just look at Crutchfield to see what it recommends for your vehicle for installation. On a 2010 the steering wheel buttons use differential resistors wired directly to the factory radio and not the CAN bus. The three buttons for the Sync specific functions also use resistors and are wired to the Sync module itself.

x2, comically oversized screen looks cheap-n-cheezy. Like the video version of this audio system. Seems like it would also block access to other controls on the dashboard.
