Do u drive with the overdrive on all of the time? I notice when turned off in the city the engine helps with braking?

The only time I turn mine off, when I had that feature, was in heavy snow so I wouldn't have to worry about unexpected shifting. I do this in my pick up. My escape doesn't have that feature.

I use mine sometimes to help me slow down more safely from the highway during rain or snow storms, or for climbing hills, all of which the manual says is what the O/D shutoff is for anyways...lol...

I have it off, as well as the A/C or defroster off if I want to accelerate faster from a dead stop without shifting up gears right away (seems like the truck will launch faster from a dead stop with it shut off...thinking that this might give it a closer gear ratio). I generally always leave it on on the highway though for max fuel economy.

I turn it off for engine braking. Otherwise, I have it on all the time.

I don't have a hitch so no towing, or I would have O/D off while doing that as well.

I run my O/D in the Scape all the time, except when climbing a steep grade or desending a steep grade.

Pardon me Colleen did you mean YOUR O/D or your RIDES O/D. :bang: :yahoo:

I use it to slow down so I don't have to use the brakes as much when coming to a light, it's funny how annoyed people get when you drive slowly to a red light... lol like your wasting their time.

I typically drive with it off all the time, but ever since the truck hit 75k miles, if I have it off and accelerate hard through eighty, I get a flashing CEL. Usually right around 5000RPMs.

I turned off the O/D when I was towing a trailer. Otherwise, it was on. :tease:
