To each his own, but in my opinion, that's a waste of money. The air filter only needs to be changed every 30k miles. I take mine out every 15k miles and clean some of the bigger crud out of it, but it still looks pretty good.JIMMYJOHN said:

That's why I said "to each his own". Even in highly dusty areas, I've never heard of a recommendation to change your air filter more than once per year. That doesn't mean I'm not wrong, but I would find it highly unusual if the filter was that clogged between oil changes that you couldn't see a 100W light bulb behind it (the rule of thumb for replacement).jpark said:That schedule is not at all unusual if you live in a dusty area.
Methinks that JJ just might know what he's doing based on where he lives and the kind of driving he does.
Just my .02.
That is interesting, I was also thinking about re routing the air intake cause it sucks up a lot of crap and maybe even adding a turbo charger to the end of it. I don't know its just the seal were the air intake is, is well not sealed and is getting sucked in towards the air filter.Domain said:I plan to change out every 10-15k miles or so. I let the Fusion go to near 20k, and when I put in a new filter shortly before getting rid of it, it drove like a new vehicle. Filter didn't look bad either.
@Brett - Hmm, your filter looks nothing like mine. And we both have V6's, interesting.
I noticed a HUGE difference instead of getting 18.2 mpg on a road where i go 40-45 i now get 21.1 i have a picture on me phone!BurghBeagle said:My air filter was SHOT at 19,000 miles. When I changed it out, I noticed a difference...it was THAT bad!
