My name is Leen and my 2005 Ford escape limited literally slowed down while on highway then stopped....and it will not turn back on
Tags2005 ford ecape died driving wont restart slow dwn driving then die slowed down then died

Ok so first thing is I bought a 2005 Ford escape like 2 months ago..second night I had it.... it ran hot and died....found out alternator was bad replaced alternator...battery is good as well...then stuttering problem when trying to accelerate was going on was told sparks and coils so replaced them both also the thermostat...got new overflow tank as well...so yesterday 2 days after getting coils replaced she ran a little bit better but stutter still persists and stall out as well.....but yesterday I was driving home on interstate and I noticed like a rattling noise as I hit the gas, I let off the gas and the noise went away hit the gas and noise returned I kept on driving when my escape literally started slowing down on its own....slower and slower it got till it finally just cut off.... the battery light came on and the oil light too...tried cutting back on but won't start and it seems it's not getting enough power, it's not as loud as it usually is when I try to start it...so i had it towed to house and then today the battery died while I just sat in the car trying to figure out the problem (still has not cut on since yesterday) someone please help I've heard MAF sensor so I have one ordered and in the mail now....what else could this be???

Don't throw money at parts without properly diagnosing the problem.
It could be the alternator again since the battery light went on.
Charge the battery first and see if the car starts and the alternator charges the battery on its own.

How many miles are on it? From your description, I would say that your catalytic converter is plugged up.
Water pump failure would only cause overheating.

I don't know how you have determined that your battery is good, but it should not die while you're sitting there diagnosing it. Take it to an auto parts store and have them bench test it for load, it is free.

It's got 202,000 miles on it.....O and a light inside says service emission system
Do you have a code reader, get yourself a Forscan setup.

@Mountain Escape if it is plugged up wat do I do?
Only option is to replace it. They're not cheap though.
have a friend try to start your car, and put your hand over the exhaust pipe… I am betting you will not feel any air pushing out with the revolution of the engine

You would assist those attempting to interpret your problems if you would post the codes. Otherwise, it is a waste of time to attempt to determine what is having problems. I have read all the posts, and you, to be successful, need to summarize and provide details, otherwise this is an exercise in wasting time.

Squirrels or mice? All those likely point to a wiring problem unless they have accumulated over time and have been ignored. Plug and injector wiring on the firewall side of the engine, hidden under the intake, are involved in all the codes(I think, did not check). If a critter was chewing and damaged the wires/crossed them, or a harness that got damaged somehow, caught between stuff, all those could be the result.

Thanks tomw would that also be the reason my car cut off and has not turn back on.....it sounds like it wants to start but like the power is too low....more like the compression is too low or something
