I need a little help.I have a 2002 escape 3.0 on start up in the morning it starts but then stalls out. I have 262,000k on it. If you drive it with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake after about 10 miles it will idle once you take your foot off the gas. but if you do not 2foot it it will stall. Any ideals or it is going to get traded next week but i would like to get it to go through the winter if a i could

I would initially say it's the idle air control valve but it sounds like there may be more. Or it's just stuck in one position. One way to test it, have one person start the engine, while you take a 3/8" ratchet extension and place it on the IAC. When the other person starts the truck and it starts to stall, smack the extension with a hammer like you're trying to hammer in a nail, only NOT AS HARD. Just enough to where it would hurt if you hit your thumb instead. That's how I used to test them when I worked at a Lincoln dealership. Surefire way to test without taking anything off. Those Crown Vics/Towncars/Marquees were notorious for those things.
