Will a 2001 Ford Taurus DOHC 3.0L work in a 2001 Ford escape 4x4? my 01 escape needsa new motor and i bought a 01 3.0L for it and the guys i got working on it are saying that some of the brackets arent lining up? is this motor no good to put in the escape or will i have to find one that came out of another escape? also what year tributes and escape will work is it 01-04? i just want to clarify on that. Anyone have a 3.0L for sale?? any help advice involving switching the motor or anything like that wuill be helpful. thanks!

Call a good junk yard. They will have a cross over manual that will list the exact list of swapable engines.

The 2001-2004 Escape/Tribute 3.0L should fit your 2001. I don't know about the Taurus 3.0L off-hand.

Ford changed the 3.0L engine mounts and electrical system for 2005 and newer E/M/Ts.

Had that in my 96 sable...so you could get a engine from 96-200x if its the same....

The taurus 2.5 and 3.0 does have different brackets in a few places. In the Taurus and Contour website they talk about needing to swap brackets around when doing a 3.0 upgrade if the engine came from an escape so safe to say it goes both ways.

taurus 2.5? I dont ever remember a taurus having a 2.5.

Well since its a different chassis there could definitely be different mounting points. The engine is the same but on the escape I think they have a plastic intake manifold...so there were revisions to the motor.
