I feel better everyday knowing I own and drive two Fords after they were the only US auto maker to get through the tougher times without a bailout. That will be part of my decision on all cars purchased going forward that's for sure.

Good job Ford!

I remember reading about that loan, before the economy went south Ford restructured itself with a private loan to make itself more profitable while putting out higher quality cars than either GM or Chrysler. Someone there is looking further than quarterly profit margins and it's paying off. :thumb: It's nice to see intelligent management every once in a while.

That's great news! I've been a proud owner of two Ford vehicles since I started driving at the age of 16 :)P

Keep it up Ford!

If this recovery by Ford keeps up, I won't be able to afford another Ford. Average price is $30K! YIKES! Getting too rich for me... :bag:

Well considering that Ford was the only one NOT to take a bailout, it makes sense. I've got two Fords and the Buick. Right now the Escort is about on it's last set of tires. Time to start looking for another Ford... :)P

Isn't the new Escort coming to the US? Or not.

I know the Fiesta is on it's way. I'm liking the 5 door, and wishing they did the 3 door here as well :shades: .

Maybe they could interest you in the new Focus in a year? I am thinking that is a 2012 model. :peace:

Ford FTW.

Here's my lucky gamble. Diehard loyalty and all. All I can say is... 3,000 shares at $1.98.

Well they spun off their part supplier Visteon and they received a bailout also agreeing to the new CAFE standards gave them access to 4.2 billion dollars in interest free government loans.
Plus the various cash for clunkers incentives from various countries I would say they also received a bailout.

Loans are not a bailout, especially when they're repaid.

Are you 100% debt-free?

No, but Dave Ramsey is giving me the tools to get myself there!!!

Anywho, this is one of the main reasons I'm proud to drive a Ford. My parents have had 8 Fords, 2 of those were handed down to me, plus I had a Sable and my Escape, and now we have our Edge. I know Ford's prices are a little high, but so is everyone else's, and Ford's quality and options are increasing. That's why my wife and I went to college (putting ourselves in debt to get through, guess I got bailed out by Sallie Mae?).

Here's to saving up for my 5.0...

On a side note, what year was your sable? I had one and loved it until it lost 4th gear. :)

I had a '93. Thing was loaded with leather, sunroof, 3.8 (3.5L?), digital dash. Loved it! Ended up getting rear ended and totaled way before she was ready to give up.

If its got the 3.8 then its a SHO, most models had the 3.0. i used to have one of them and a newer sable which had the 3.0. i sold it so some old lady and its still going with over 167k on it. It dosent have 4th gear but the lady uses it for city driving anyway. The engine leaks a quart a month and the interior is falling apart, but the lady loves it and so do i lol. I see her driving it every time i go to town.
the mitsubishi montero sport i had i sold to a guy who makes stock mudders...he pimped it all out and made a jeep-like supension for it and still uses it in trail rides, some of his videos are on youtube and they are impressive! It was really a good truck and there lots of them around here.

Sho motors for 89-95 where 3.0 L for the manual and 3.2 L for the auto the 3.8L was an old workhorse motor that was use by Ford in everything.

Yes the Taurus back then had I believe a 3.0 V6, the 3.8 V6 and the SHO motor as stated by 100chuck. There wasn't a Sable SHO and first gen SHO's didn't have automatics.
