Other than the steering wheel being a little farther to the right I do believe the Escape and Maverick are more than 90% identical. There are a few Maverick owners here on E-C. Someone like Cammusdarch may be able to shed a little more light on this topic.

Hi there.

Ok, our Mavericks are the broadly the same as the 1st generation Escape's, from 2001 to 2003 (approx).

There are some differences, ( dashboard layout and headlamps are two that spring to mind), but sidesteps, A bars etc should fit without problems.

But, postage from America is an absolute killer for larger items, and has thwarted many a plan for my Maverick

If it's sidebars you're after, they do crop up on eBay.co.uk every so often (Big Chris got his from eBay), and are still listed as obtainable at Ford dealerships, so you could try there.

Front A Bars are a different prospect though, as technically they are against the law here if fitted to a passenger car made after 2001, although this ruling is often ignored, but check if yoinsurance company will permit you to add either item first, as mine won't permit me to install a front bull / A bar.

The other mod that could cause problems is the often quoted twin headlamp conversion, due to the wiring modifications, in that you cannot have the dim an full beam lights on at the same time, and the beam pattern being incorrect for the UK.

On my Maverick, I was lucky in that the sidebars were already fitted to it, but I have also done the clear side indicator mod, stubby aeriel and bought the American rear tail lights, so that I have twin reverse lights, placing the foglight under the bumper, and also got 3 pairs of "Escape" lettering from another member of this forum.

Hope this is of help, and :welcome:

Whereabouts are you located????

thanks for the quick info guys :D i managed to source out a supplier over in Ireland who had contacted a supplier in italy who states that the 2001-2003 ford maverick shares the exact same mounting points as the mazda tribute so there 100% sure that a tribute bar will fit maverick. Ordered the bar that the supplier reckons will fit my car so heres hoping it does actually fit. I should receive the front A bar within the next 2 -3 weeks :D. i have been asured that if it doesnt they will take the bar back.

camusdarrach - i stay just outisde glasgow in a small place called cumbernauld. If your passing through here ... wear a stab proof vest and drive extremly fast!
