Fun Runs and Member Meetings

Here is a meeting place to discuss and plan Fun Runs and such get togethers, past and present.

2 years ago several members of our city met in Orlando for a weekend of rides, car shows, good meals and conversation. It was a blast and an experience I'm sure will be repeated in the near future. If you find members in your area that want to go cruising, off roading, whatever, it can be a very good time and it is nice to put a face to the names and share escape stories!

Security Note: As I said we had a great meeting with several escapes and members coming together for a mutually great time, but the internet is a vast and sometimes dangerous place, so anytime you meet someone you only know from chats on-line, use common sense and due caution. We want yah back with good stories and pics.

Ever since I bought my Escape I have been keeping the speeds way down. After I got that speeding ticket it was 3 or 4 months before I sped again and even then the fastest I have gone is 80mph on my way to my friends moms wedding in Nevada and I couldn't be late for it. I have been doing around 65 to 75, I figure, "whats the point?" I have a 4 by 4 and I don't have the front sway bar connected and it's an SUV, I can hurt someone with this thing,
I've slowed down since I got my Escape too. Realized that it doesn't go as fast as my Eclipse did, nor does it handle as well. I graciously have not had a speeding ticket in quite some time. Prob been about 4 years. I have been keeping the speed down lately. But I still keep my cop finder turned on cuz I still do more than the speed limit. A very famous phrase in Indiana...you can do the "Sign plus Nine" and that's it.
In South Florida if you're not going 90 MPH then you're slowing down traffic and hazard to all. :p
:)^ I noticed that in Miami.... Jax is a bit slower....

Thats what it usually is for us. Espicially on the toll roads that I drive on everyday. 80mph is considered the normal speed. Any faster than that though the cops start not liking it.

Sarasota is just as bad, mostly on 41. The speed limit is 40. The average speed is over 60.

And with I75, I never try to pace the traffic...just flow with it, and I'm still doing 80 or more.
:hyst: After living in Atlanta for 25 years, nothing in florida has been a problem.

I wish our traffic laws were enforced with the same level of seriousness. Some of the stuff people get by with is outrageous!
I was clocked doing 97mph in a 65mph. ():) I had to pay the $403 fine and now I have to go to traffic school so I don't get the point on my record.
Consider yourself lucky, we don't get that option!!!!!!! ;) :) over here, you'd have been automatically banned from driving for at least 1 year, a freind of mine was caught by a GATSO camera on the M1 doing 77 in a 70 zone, got 2 years ban and £500.00 fine!!! :censor: :cuss: ;)
There's something not right there, That's just a 3 point offence. Over 100 is instant ban territory. Speeding on a motorway under 100 is 3 points, unless they want to push for dangerous driving or without due care and attention.

When I'm on the M25, and it's clear, I usually set the cruise to 85. I've had loads of cops come up behind me but just pass and never been pulled over. I think they don't mind a bit of speeding if it's clear and you're not tailgating or generally driving like a jerk. :)^
The fastest I am ever alowed to drive is 55 mph. If I am caught doing say, 60 then I will loose my licence for 3 months :censor:

I think it is dangerous sitting on the highway at 55 when people are wizzing past at 80. I should at least be able to do 65 and move with the traffic.

55 is a joke.
Usually 70-75 on the thru-way. I miss the autobahn..
Your town had an autobahn?

:bill:

Heh, better be careful, watch what happens to this Mercedes at about 120 mph:

:shock2:

And he walked away from it! :))

I LOVE your avatar!
That's just a stupid driver who doesn't know his/her own limits. That wasn't a bad accident...no impact with anything really so I am not the least bit surprised he walked away. Probobably soiled themselves though :)
:D

The last red car at the end is a 1991 Dodge Daytona Shelby Turbo. [sigh]

You had to know that I'd catch that.

:D
