Hi all. :)

I recently purchased a 2007 Mercury Mariner 4x2 as a new family car. I am a single dad with two youngsters. I traded in my beloved 1993 BMW 740i for the Mercury. It still pains me to think about giving up my BMW, but I made the "safe dad" decision and opted for something more utilitarian and cost-consious. My BMW was costly to operate, but for all of you who who have never driven one, there is nothing like the experience and exhiliration of going 90MPH, and stepping down hard on the accelerator and feeling the car surge you up towards 130MPH and beyond in seeming limitless acceleration (NEVER done with the kids onboard!!). Anyway, enough of that!! I'm starting to feel heartache!

Being as how I previously owned a unique vehicle, I want to feel that way about my Mercury Mariner. Now that I have an SUV and I frequently visit the country, I like the idea of a grill guard and tail light guards. I am looking for recommendations! A parts specialist wasn't able to find much, except this link. I haven't had a chance to ask him about the tail light guards, however I am looking for something in aftermarket black steel that matches the grill guard (not the OEM chrome/plastic design).

Also, an important question is can I be looking for accessories under 2007 Ford Escape and expect the parts to fit my Mercury Mariner?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help and advice!

Hello and :welcome:

Seems like these items are not really common but are available for the Escape. I have both for my 2001 and didn't have any trouble finding them although the selection wasn't overwhelming.

My first Brush Guard was about $300, you can see it in my sig pic (for now) and as you can see was not a snug fitting guard, although I did get used to the look and liked it. 2nd and current guard was about $230 and is snug fitting and looks a lot "cleaner." I bought both online, first from a now gone online SUV store in Cali. and 2nd from E-bay.

On your Mariner, I'd check the underside of the front bumper. Look for some tow hooks to attach to, and on one of the cross bars in front of the radiator should be pre-drilled holes and molded recess to accept the support brackets. My Escape has places such as those that are intended for the installation of front end accessories, and if your Mariner has those it might mean it either matches an Escape or guards were made for it.

I installed my 2nd brush guard yesterday (Long story, first one did it's job, they are one time use items.) and for this one I actually had to cut away parts of the plastic covers on the underside. My first one was straight bolt on and easy. Depending on what kind you find it can either be an involved job or a piece of cake. If possible check to see what kind of mounting arrangement you'll get, but from my experience with them all you'll likely get is a photo of it installed.

Hopefully someone can confirm if your Mariner matches a given year model Escape, I think if it does you'll have plenty of items to choose from and might even find some decent deals.
