I have an '09 Mariner (no Nav but with ambient lighting), and I'm toying with getting a Wood Dash kit. My main concerns would be:

1) real wood v synthetic
2) how good is the fit?
3) how well does it adhere long term?
4) does it actually look like a factory finish (like it would on a Lincoln, Lexus, etc)?

And for anyone that has added Wood Dash kits, what brand do you recommend (as there are several companies that make them)?

I have a "brushed aluminium" (plastic) kit. The fit is pretty good, but the cut edges could be better. They have stayed inplace pretty well too but the two pieces that surround the vents on the dash are starting to peel up at the corners, I think cause they are in the sunlight. If I were to do it again I'd send alittle more and get the real stuff. They make the dash really look good though and the woods do look awsome.

i used the wood grain dash kit off ebay. cant remember exact price but it was roughly $150. was fairly impressed with the quality, just be sure to use a heat gun so the adheasive can become sticky.

very happy with the fit, pictures can be viewed at my car domain page on page 3:

finaly it definatly looks factory as many people including my father who owns an explorer got in and couldnt stop admiring how "luxurious" my interior looks compared to the explorer. and was convinced it was stock until i told him it was after market.

Use a silcon adhesive if your in doubt about the stickyness of the double sided tape that comes with most kits. Don't use the heat gun, that stuff melts in the sunlight.

We have, at work, aftermarket wooden/aluminium dashboard kits on the Cheeta coaches, to me they just look, well, kinda tacky. :stifle:
That might just be down to what kit Plaxtons use, though
