need some help my 2002 rev's and the only way i can bring the rpm's down is turn off the key?

So I have had the same problem. Ford had a recall on the accelerator cable. But mine was still doing it after the recall. I noticed the plastic engine cover on my v6 was interfering with the throttle. Also cleaning out your egr valve and throttle body with throttle cleaner Helps too.
