Hi all,

I've been experiencing slight leak around the oil pan gasket so I decided to tighten up all of the bolts. Some were pretty loose.

My darn luck that one bolt broke off! I don't see anything leaking yet but any suggestions on a quick fix to prevent any leaking? I see the other side of the bolt and it broke off right at the edge of the pan and the engine block...

I was thinking about using some high temp silicone to at least temporarily fill the hole. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Extract the broken half and get a replacement. I wouldn't bother with trying to seal it up for now, as that might make things messy when you fix it later.

Were you using a torque wrench on the bolts?

Hi Squishy! As always thanks for your advice. I should have used the torque wrench but didn't... Just wanted to make sure they were tight and boom, one broke off. So far, no oil leak after 30 miles. Now there is increased ticking noise in the engine ... looks like dealer may have overfilled the engine oil. Argh
