Hi all

Just bought a 2001 Maverick or Escape as you guys know them and joined the boards.

Not many about in the UK and not much internet support and this eemed like a pretty good place to start so thought i would say hello.

Picked it up 3 hours ago and have driven home, without anything falling off so pretty pleased :)

Have some areas to repair and some jobs to do but will tell more as I learn more!

So Hi from the UK

I too found this place just before I bought mine. A great resource, and a helpful group. Nothing like Odyclub.com , the forum for the Honda Odyssey (my previous vehicle) where everyone just b*tched about Honda, their dealers, and the crappy workmanship in their vans.

I lived in Leeds for a couple of years - from late 99 to early 2001, worked for Carlsberg-Tetley. I had a Ford then too - I was a Mondeo Man (company car) until they swapped the contract and we all ended up in Peugeots. Imagine going from a Petrol Mondeo to a Diesel 405. Not nice.

I've been watching your election with bated breath (for some reason Canadians still think British politics matter to them I guess)...nice to see it is all done with. We've had a Conservative minority government for 3 years now and it seems to work well...they can penny pinch without being allowed to get all Draconian b/c they need the moderate support. Seems to work well - we barely felt the global recession here.

Back on track - I've had my Escape a grand total of 3 weeks now and absolutely love it.

I hope you enjoy your stay. Lots of good people and information here. There are even a few Maverick owners. Good luck with your new ride

Hello from Germany! and welcome to the boards!!

My previous vehicle was a Pontiac Vibe and there was a similar forum for the Vibe/Matrix Genvibe.com

It was a great resource for info, just like this site! I am glad to have stumbled upon it as I hope to frequent these boards for years to come!

Wow, never knew that another member on here knows my home town of Leeds....

BTW, Carlsberg-Tetleys are in the process of closing down the Leeds Brewery, and the Saleem Church next door (that Tetley's wanted to purchase for years, is now being converted to an office complex.....

As for the election, well lets just say that the next few weeks are going to be interesting......

I heard about the brewery closure. I don't work for them anymore - made my way back into Education - but sad indeed. CT really dropped the ball over here in Canada on the Tetley brand - it was big a few years ago but has basically faded away - maybe because I stopped working for them...yeah, that must be it....

Thank you again for the welcome, will post pics asap, pretty tidy vehicle in my opinion and a bit of a bargain. The tale of the sale will come with the pics!

And kmoose, i have given up on politics, they all merge into one in the UK, generic politicians although I do think it is an interesting combination, oh and I am a long way from Leeds (in English terms) probably just around the corner if you look at it, England is only a small place afterall. Thats probably why we made it so far aroun the world, this island just wasnt large enough!

So pics will follow soon, found my first gremlin too, the ABS light, got to find out wher the sensors are and give them a clean to start with.
:)
