The cats on our '01 3.0 Escape melted last summer. After drilling a hole through all three to get by, I replaced them with Magnaflow cats selcted for their higher air flow rate, and with four Bosch sensors. The ECM took over a month to complete testing before giving a PO153 trouble code (slow response) on the first bank/front sensor. I"m now replacing with Motocraft sensors but worried about whether the cats will perform within the ECM allowed ranges. Have any of you any experience with this situation?

Cats are not an issue, even the free flow ones.Bosch sensors, if they are the right ones, work fine. Before I changed the sensors I would delete the code and see if it comes up again.
In the mean time keep a close eye on the car's performance and fuel consumption.
