OK, here's another gas mileage post. But I have to tell you I'm very surpised and happy with the highway gas mileage I'm getting on my 2009 Escape with the 3.0L V6. The sticker said 27mpg.
My car has about 900 miles, and I ran 5 highway only mpg tests. Most of the time I was going about 65mph, with a maximum of 70mph with cruise control on. Octane was 87, tires at 33 psi, A/C off, windows closed, outdoor temps in the mid 50s to mid 60s. 1-2 passengers (1 child, 1 adult) on-board depending on the test. The results obtained were measured by the car's computer.
Here's my results:
29.3 mpg
29.3 mpg
29.2 mpg
28.9 mpg
29.8 mpg (I expected this one to be higher because of the very gradual descending terrain)
Each test was for about 40-70 miles.
I'm very happy with these results, especially given that they were obtained with plain old regular gas. I haven't checked city or combined. Hopefully it will edge up a little more once the engine's broken-in and I switch the oil to full synthetic.
