So these are a couple of things that i added to my Escape, things that should have been there from the factory in my opinion, when a car leaves the assembly line with a LIMITED badge on the trunk.

This is a homelink module that i put in the visor(came off of a lincoln town car)

And a 12 V socket that was suposed to be in the trunk driver side.Funny that the mold was there in the plastic panel but they never put one in ,so i just wired this from the one in the front because i've looked for the harness in the back but it wasn't there. I took it off of a Tribute so it will look OEM. I needed a 12 V socket in the back once and it wasn't there so now there is.

That's it for now. Thanks for watching guys!

Nice. I splurged and bought the mirror with homelink, temperature, compass and auto dim.
Yeah that mirror is nice.I'm looking for one now but just with compass and temperature.I found one in the junk yard from the same lincoln i took the homelink off (gentex gntx 221), but for some reason it doesn't show the temp just the compass.I'll keep looking.

Did you remember to grab and install the temp sensor?
Yes i did grab like 2 of them(one from a different car) but it's just not working. What i'm thinking is the lincoln i took the mirror off had the temp display in the dash so i guess the factory disabled the temp display in the mirror?????.....or i'm doing something wrong?.The mirror is really nice and i would like to make it work because it has built in LED map lights too ,but it is what it is.

Great work. Can you provide a bit of detail/tips on the cut and install of the homelink into the visor? I'd love to do this mod as well but other sites are claiming its near impossible to get the homelink into the visor without totally destroying..the visor. Obviously you know something different. :)

Hey guys sorry for the delay but i was out of town for a few days.

The homelink is lets say a pretty simple thing to do. Before you do anything make sure you have the lighted vanity mirror in your visor because that's the place you will be feeding the module. If you don't have power up there then i guess you need to run a wire to it.Also before you do anything hook that module up to the battery ,program it and see if it works with your garage opener. You don't want to work a few hours and then realize that the module is not working.

well i don't have any pics but i will try to explain how i did it.

First i removed the visor off the car.
Then i popped the mirror off(it just popes out with a flat head),then i started cutting VERY SLOWLY in to the sewing with a razor blade. Then i saved a piece of string to go to Walmart or to the local fabric store and get same color string.

The visor is just one big piece of hard paper folded in half so you need to be careful how you handle it.
After you get the thing opened find a good place for the module to fit, draw the shape of the module and cut that shape out. Be very careful how you cut so you don't cut the fabric. When you make your drawing don't draw around the plastic ears that the module has on the case because those ears will hold the module from pushing it self out . The module's case needs to be flush with hard paper.
Then you have to use your imagination to see how much you need to cut in to the fabric so the module's buttons and clips go trough. The cut you make should not be that big and the module's plastic facia needs to cover it.
After all this i wired the module to the mirror and sewed back the visor.

I did a search and actually i found some other guys that did this to their escapes.
Here's one link that i found and has some pics :

Good luck!

FYI - When you see a link that starts with "viewtopic.php?", you need to copy that link into your browsers address bar and add "www.escape-city.com/" in front of it...
