Hi guys, I’m new here. I own a 2006 ford escape XLT and I today I picked up some factory tweeters and a factory sub from the junkyard. I already find how to hook up the tweeters and I now I want to know how to hook up the factory sub Without using like the factory wiring.

I figure it would be easier to plug it like an aftermarket one ( the sub) the problem is that I don’t know how to do that. My pioneer aftermarket radio already have the rca output for a sub. From what I understand I need power and , that where it’s not clear,I need to hook them the the front speaker.

If there a way to do all of that just by modifying a little portion of the factory harness that plug in the sub ?
If someone more experimented with these thing would help me it would save me from a lot of sleep less night ( I know myself until I didn’t find a solution I won’t stop thinking about it lol )

Use the RCA out (it probably has a sub out that is also a crossover than only puts out the sub frequencies) and the amp turn on (assuming that the sub woofer also includes the amp). It is a 5v enable that is the main thing to deal with, as the aftermarket head unit probably puts out 12v.

Ok from what I understand the RCA is left and right audio. Now I have to find wich wire on the amp is the left and right on the sub, solder them together and find a 5 volt power source and wire that wire to the amp.Could a step down converter to 5 v work? Could I just tap in the radio 12 volt? Do I need some fuse

pin 1 - grey/black is enable (5v)
pin 2 - black/light green (ground)
pin 5 - red/yellow (12v constant battery)
pin 7 - light green/black (audio +)
pin 8 - light blue/red (audio -)

There is no left/right on the sub, it is a single source (not stereo) which is why I would look for a sub out. Yes, you can use a 12v (the head unit should have a 12v amp enable wire) to 5v down converter. Anything higher than 5v put it in clipping mode.
