Hey all

In the market for a small SUV. 2010 V6 Escape is on the short list. Can anyone speak to the effectiveness of the A/C? Spend a lot of time in the deserts of the southwest during the summer. A/C seemed good during my test drive, but it's hard to tell because it's...y'know...winter!

It can't beat the old R12 refrigerant, but it's comparable to any other modern car. I've never broken a sweat with the A/C on, but then again...it's Canada.

R12...that takes me back. Learned to drive in an '84 Bronco.

My escape AC is quite efficient.
It is quite refreshing, with the hot days we have down under.

Only had the Escape for about 1 month in the summer weather but the A/C system did a great job in the high humidity summer weather that we get over in Michigan. I can't speak to the performance in a dry desert heat though.

Several of us that own an E/M/T live in the southwestern US. I have been in the nieghbors Honda CRV, and the brother in laws Nissan Pathfinder. The A/C in those vehicles isn't, or doesn't seem to be quite as tough as our Tribute. I'd say the E/M/T A/C ranks up there with the best. It helps any car to tint the front windows, but then again, I didn't do the F-150 windows and survive quite comfortabley. I digress :topic: , it's as good or better than the pickup's A/C, and quite possibly better than any other small sport ute.

Mine has frozen me out in San Antonio in the middle of the summer, as well as Savannah throughout the whole year! I usually just turn it up to high when I first get in the car to go home, and end up turning it down before I get home...which is about 5 miles. Beats any other vehicle I have owned.
