Oxford has announced their "Word of the Year" for 2008 and it is HYPERMILING.

First listed in 2004, this term took only four years to reach the award. As defined by Oxford Dictionary:
Hypermiling or to hypermile is to attempt to maximize gas mileage by making fuel-conserving adjustments to one's car and one's driving techniques. Rather than aiming for good mileage or even great mileage, hypermilers seek to push their gas tanks to the limit and achieve hypermileage, exceeding EPA ratings for miles per gallon.

For those interested... last year's Word was "locavore" (eating food grown locally) and the 2006 word was "carbon neutral" :thumb:

My average hypermilling is about 635 kilometres per tank. :)
