This is great, I wrote my car history back in December. Now I get to add the Escape

Car History -

1968 Ford Mustang - 3 on the floor. Drivers License. Caught on fire after engine swap.
1974 Ford Pinto - Some Mustang engine swap. Fast. Dangerous. High School
1977 Ford Pinto "Sport" - ummm, right.
1977 Plymouth Volare` - Gotta love the Slant 6. Prom.
1970 Dodge Pick-up - Surprisingly quick. First speeding ticket.
1981 Subaru Wagon - Cyclopes. Went places I had no business going. College.
1964 Chevy Pick-up - Straight Six, 3 speed on the column - Oh the memories. College.
1981 Honda Accord Hatch Back - 2 quarts of oil once a month.
1991 Mazda Protégé LX - Perhaps the funnest car to date. - Marriage
1987 Mazda RX-7 - never should've got it. Outrageous stereo.
1992 Toyota Tercel 4 speed manual - needed good gas mileage
1991 Mazda Protégé LE - 75 mph freeway 5x rollover, walked away. Learned my lesson.
1997 Mitsubishi Galant - Totaled by the Father in Law, six months new.
1996 Mazda 626 - Fun V-6, crappy tranny.
1995 Neon Sport 5 speed - A blast to drive.
1987 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Sport Pick-up - Power noth'n. Step above covered wagon and I LOVED IT.
1995 Mazda MPV - the nanny van, at one point had teddy-bear hubcaps, 13 years of service.
2002 Buick Regal LS - rapidly becoming my all-time favorite.
2005 Ford Escape XLT V6 4WD - feel like I'm in a stomper, fun!

Time to update the list... Traded in the '01 Escape and sold the MGB last month...

1978 Ford Pinto wagon (bright orange!)
1968 Volvo 144S (B18B engine with twin SU carbs) 1 of 2 cars I got from my great uncle.
1986 Ford Escort GT (drove it 150,000+ miles then sold it to a Ford mechanic. Great car!)
1969 Austin Healey Sprite (faster than a French border guard with tracks shoes and a coupon for American cigarettes).
1959 Simca Aronde Plein Ciel (apparently that's French for 'as is, where is' -- don't ask)
1993 Subaru Loyale 4WD wagon (as bland a car as was ever produced)
1996 Subaru Legacy AWD wagon (the AWD stunk - I spun this car 360 degrees at 20 mph - twice!)
1988 Plymouth Horizon (2nd car I got from my great uncle. Got it in '96 with just 18,000 miles on it. Best car I ever drove in snow - hands down).
2001 Ford Escape - love it
2003 VW New Beetle convertible - surprised my wife with this for her 40th B-day. The rest of the guys in my neighborhood hate me now.
1976 MGB roadster. Great fun, drive it work every day and enter it in car shows on the weekends. Great parts availability, great online support (MGExperience.net).
1982 Mercedes 380SL. It's true, nothing is more expensive than a cheap Mercedes. But I love it anyway.
2012 Ford Escape (it's a lease. Let's just leave it at that. And I call the Synch, 'Stynch')
and less we forget...a 1964 Motobecane Mobylette moped.

Now THAT'S the complete list...

1978 Chevy Monte Carlo
1981 Pontiac Grand Prix
1984 Nissan Maxima

(Several forgettable vehicles)

2000 Chevy Blazer - First 4WD vehicle
2001 Buick Rendesvous - Had tons of room. Good traveling vehicle.
2000 Kia Sportage - Big money pit but it did get me through a Michigan winter

Here are my vehicles...

1981 Chevy Chevette - My first car bought at auction for $375. It had broken shock towers so I pretty much bounced down the road, looked like a 1980's hoopty!!

1982 Chevy Chevette - Grandma gave me this when she quit driving altogether. Great clean car with low miles. I can't seem to get away from those 'vettes!

1977 Ford F-150 - Big truck, 8ft bed and crew cab, alot of truck for a teenager in the 80's!! It had the full length fold down bench in the back as well as full front bench. Two 25 gallon fuel tanks were a pain to fill even with gas at $0.89/gallon.

1982 Plymouth Reliant Wagon - 4 speed manual wagon?!?!? I wasn't the most popular guy with this "grocery getter" as my buddies called it.

1986 Ford Escort Wagon - The car my parents gave me in the early 90's. My dad took our family of 4 to California in this rig, complete with "Turtle Top". Can you say Clark Griswold !!!

1993 GMC Safari - This was the most fun and versitile vehicle I have ever owned. All wheel drive, extended and dutch doors made this for the ultimate family wagon. Never got it stuck in a bad Michigan snowstorm.

1992 Buick Skylark - Not a bad car, nice peppy V6 but too small for family. Totalled it in an accident.

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan - My first 3 year lease and another family wagon. Still not a cool ride even though it had that cool "fin" over the back hatch! :shades:

2003 Pontiac Aztek - First brand newly purchased vehicle and I don't regret it at all. This car treated me very well (and still does) as I have 160,000+ miles on it and still adding them. Butt ugly but what a great ride, I averaged 18-20 mpg city and 25-29 highway and it provided plenty of room for my family of four.

1998 Buick LeSabre Custom - Got it free from my Great Aunt (surprised?) and drove it for about 1 1/2 years until I totalled it (not my fault this time). I have been cursed driving Buick's so that was the last one for me!

2003 Ford Crown Victoria Police Car - What an awesome ride! Picked it up at a city auction, very tough car, easy to drive however getting 16 MPG with the gas guzzling 4.7L V8 made it very expensive to drive around daily. This was my "fun" car - I sold it 2 years later for more than I paid for it!!

2012 Ford Escape Limited - Great car and I am very happy with it so far (only 1000 miles on it as of this posting).

Time for another update...how did I get to the point in life where I own six cars and a moped, all at the same time? Just bought my father in law's (JP's dad) 2005 Honda CRV. With the Escape coming off lease in Feb '14, and no desire to own or lease another new vehicle, it made sense. Dad wanted to downsize, and i need an SUV for commuting in Buffalo winters. The rest of the year, I drive the 380SL. My youngest is driving the Escape to high school every day. She's the only one in the family who actually likes it. In all fairness, neither the '12 Escape or the '05 CRV can hold a candle to my Gen 1 Escape ('01 model). I really miss that truck.

2001 Ford Escape - loved it (traded in 11/6/11, only because of an electrical short that no one could find & fix)
2003 VW New Beetle convertible - surprised my wife with this for her 40th B-day. The rest of the guys in my neighborhood hate me now.
1976 MGB roadster. Great fun, drove it work every day and entered it in car shows on the weekends.

2012 Ford Escape. It's a lease. Let's just leave it at that. And I call the Synch, 'Stynk'.
and lest we forget...a 1964 Motobecane Mobylette Type AV88 moped (still undergoing sympathetic restoration).
1955 Austin A30 Countryman Estate, right hand drive - a little 3 door British station wagon, a/k/a 'Ned Lud'. Look it up.
2012 Honda Fit Sport
2005 Honda CRV AWD AT

Here's mine in order:

1982 Chevy Celebrity. I got it in about 1994. It had about 150,000 miles on it. Open the oil cap and it looked like a beach after an oil spill. But it was my first car! While changing the oil one time, I jacked it up on the front crossmember, removed the jack stands and as I was letting it down- BANG! The jack slipped off the crossmember and into the oil pan! I replaced he oil pan but I believe the oil pickup tube got kinked or broken or something. It wasn't long that it went from 4 cylinders to 3. Donated to some charity.

1986 Nissan Sentra. 2 door 5 speed manual transmission. Good car. Had it for 3 or 4 years.

1991 Mazda 626 LX. This was a hand-me-down from my parents. Couldn't complain- this car had AC, cruise, power windows/locks, sunroof.... Got it just before 150,000 miles and I drove it to 197,xxx. Traded it and got the dealer minimum.

1992 Saturn SC. This car started out as my girlfriend's/wife's car. When we traded the 626, I took over driving it. I turned it into my SCCA autox toy and track day car. Had TONS of fun with it. I almost turned it into a full racecar complete with roll cage, but I moved from KS to CO and decided to sell it.

1998 Mercury Mountaineer. 5.0L V8 AWD- it was pretty nice. Only owned it for about 13 months. It started making expensive sounding noises and gas was nearing $2/gal so we decided to traded it.

2004 Saturn VUE. First brand new car. We got the 4 cylinder 5 speed. Put 103k miles on it with hardly any repairs, but the one that tipped me over the edge was 2 exhaust manifold studs broken off that I couldn't fix. Sold it recently.

2003 Mazda Protege ES. Originally bout it for my wife as she was pregnant. This car was auto while the VUE was a stick. But we learned that the door opening was pretty small to get the baby carrier through so I took over driving it and she went back to the VUE. I ended up doing LOTS to it- Mazdaspeed suspension, nice wheels and tires, chassis pieces, nice exhaust...... it was a good looking and great handling car.

1997 Ford Explorer XLT. This replaced the Protege for me. Originally bought to be a DD and tow the popup camper- but then I got into 4wheeling. Looking to sell the camper soon and it's no longer a DD. Lots of mods- custom bumpers, sliders, gears, suspension lift, big tires, lights, CB...... It's a fun truck.

1995 Saturn SL2. Bought to be my commuter. Driving the Explorer it seemed like I was at the gas station every week- and actually I was (I tracked it on fuelly). The SL2 was a no frills- no cruise, no power locks/windows and the AC didn't work. Gas mileage was good but I didn't like driving it. Sold it 11 months after I bought it for $300 more than I bought it for.

2012 Ford Escape Limited. Bought for the wife and I took over driving the VUE. Been a good car so far.

2006 Mercury Mariner Luxury. Still has the 45-day tag. I like it so far.

Doesn't seem like that many but I have only been driving for 6 years lol

My first car, bought with 120,000 sold with 165,000 1993 Ford Thunderbird LX Great first car. Sold it after many broken control arms and the last one putting me into a corn field at 60 mph. Later to find out owner before replaced with too stiff of bushings.

Bought then 1999 Ford Contour. Bought 80,000 sold with 130,000 4cly Hated this vehicle like no other. No power what so ever. sold it after 9 months

Next 1998 GMC Sonoma, Bought with 62,000 sold with 145,000. Loved this truck, still wish I had it. reg cab step side shortbox 4cyl 2.2 5 spd manual. Great truck.

Bought 1999 grand am Se with 89,000 miles; lasted a week before totaled due to person running light.

Bought 1999 Grand am GT with 92,000 sold with 160,000 Great car but had its issues.

2010 Mustang get bought new, love this car but not enough power and wasn't cost effective to mod to get more power, so traded it with 16,000 miles for
2013 Ford Mustang GT fully loaded, Cat back Borla exhaust Steeda CAI, Boma tuned Eibach lowering springs front and rear. next to come is headers, then probably a rousch twin screw s/c

:? I must be getting old, there's no way in hell that I could remember every car I've ever owned, but if I could the list would be two pages long

I'm not sure how I've owned so few cars compared to some of these members.
These are the 8 I've owned in 28 years of driving

1977 GMC Sierra - Big blue classic pick up with a 305 V8. Good truck, started in even the coldest of weather ... crushed by falling ice.

1980 Honda Accord hatchback - From when the Accord was a small car, fun to drive, standard everything 5 speed 1.6L died when a connector rod when through the bottom of the engine just short of 400000 km.

1989 Dodge RAM 50 - Very small pick up 5 speed with a 2.6L Mitsubishi engine. Died when an intake valve broke and fell into the cylinder aroud 350000 km.

1987 Nissan Multi - Odd little micro van with a 5 speed 2.0 L - went to the wrecker after blowing a clutch and needing too much other work.

1991 Chevy Cavalier Wagon - Nice little wagon - died after being severly overheated.

1995 Ford Escort hatchback - Good little car - disapeared along with my first wife.

2005 Ford Focus hatchback- Nice car to drive - would have preffered the 5 speed but didn't want to fight my current wife on the matter - traded for the Escape after a 4 year lease.

2006 Ford Escape V6 3.0 No Bounds - So far one of my favorites of the bunch. No sure yet what will come next.

Nice topic and interesting reading.

1964 Chevrolet-based Step Van - first "car", converted to a camper

1979 Chevrolet Impala Station Wagon - combination of limousine and pickup truck. Equipped with 350ci V8, 4bbl carb, positraction. Impressively useful. Like time travel in a living room.

1991 Nissan Pathfinder SE - very capable offroad and pretty useful otherwise.

1990 Dodge Spirit - surprisingly nice design, but cheaply built.

2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara JLX-L - current vehicle. A nice small suv biased toward off-road use. The most reliable car I've ever owned.

2009 Ford Escape Hybrid Ltd awd - current vehicle. A nice small suv that gets excellent mileage. The least reliable car I've ever owned.

Edit for question
What is the average age of users here just curious as to how many people had a lot of cars in what time frame?
