I have no intention of burning rubber, with the cooper all terrains. They were expensive. Plus i have to keep the escape mechanical components reliable. Conveyance to my job is the top priority. It is only a four cylinder, but i just love the fuel economy being achieved. :)

I'm almost surprised that they haven't came out with a diesel 4 cyl turbo variant for the Escape...I think I would have bought one....

I'd not say that about you Dasha! ;)

I doubt that the Escape would tolerate the Diesel engine rattle, much less anything else about a diesel engine. :(

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Nothing to be sorry about.

If you check with True Delta.com you would see that the VW anything is high maintenance. In fact, the maintenance and troubles reported by owners put the Rabbit, Jetta amd Beetle diesel powered cars in the highest possible maintenance at 202. So maybe the VWs can't really handle the diesel engine after all.

While an below average level of maintenance, is where the E/M/T are located. I maybe wrong, but it seems to me that Ford Motor Company can get things wrong, but they don't seem interested in building high maintenance cars and trucks deliberately. And a diesel engined Escape would be exactly that, high maintenance.
