Installing 09-10 Mercury Mariner rocker panels on my Escape

Picked up a set of Mercury Mariner 09-10 rocker mouldings in the wrong color, but will be getting them painted. I like the look of the Escape sports and don't like OE or aftermarket running boards so this should be unique and different. Will be posting the pictures when I get them and have them painted.

Am I missing something? How will this be "unique and different" from any Mariner w/o factory running boards?
Its an Escape and won't have the ugly grey piece with the four ugly bumps. I didn't get a Mariner as I don't like the front or back end of them. So you think it will look like a Mariner?
He is talking about the rocker panels that are directly under the doors(body panel), not the runningboards (steps)
Correct, thanks I guess I didn't make it clear.
I would have done the same thing. That's one of the 2 things on the Escape exterior I do not like. The rocker covers look like they were stolen from a Pontiac. That & I can't stand the stock tail lights. I'm hoping they will over time improve the interior soon as well.
Anyways, looking forward to the pics, I think it'll look great! :thumb:
Thanks Joey. I thought it odd everyone on here is acting like I three heads! I come from modifing and working on late model mustangs, so modifying comes natural in subtle ways.
Just in case you haven't seen it, here's a how-to on the rocker panel removal and installation:

Ahh cool! Sorry, I thought you had a Mariner with factory boards. That will look nice. The more it looks like a Mariner, the nicer it will be :D  :hyst:
Thanks for the link and thanks! I agree about it looking nicer that much closer to a Mariner!
Happy to hear that, i tought i was the only one that didnt like those panel that always need armor all to look nice.

that's why i took the sport appearance package on my '10 escape... it also have the painted finish on mirrors and ext. handles. so no need for armor all on those plastic moldings...
hehe
Cool! I can also supply a link to those needing those clips that usually break (ones that attach to the body). I found a vendor that supplies them via ebay and was cheaper than the $3 a piece from Ford. There are 14 a side fwiw. The panels I got had several broken ones, and didn't want to find out that when taking my original ones off that I didn't have enough hence picking some up.

The panels go in next week for paint and hope to have pics later next week!
So you're 100% sure that they fit? If so ill be looking through the junkyards for a pair of black ones! :yahoo:
Yep, they fit perfect and use same attachment hardware and door seal (attached with clips to rocker pieces)
I got my clips but still waiting for the panels to come back from paint. The ford part number for the clips are part # YL8Z*7820806*AA and are $3 from Ford. The ones I got from ebay that are $12 plus a few bucks to ship:

Looks sharp! The fit is perfect. Nice job :thumb:
Thanks! It seems to finish up the car the way it should have been.
That definitely looks a lot nicer than the silly vinyl, especially in Limited trim. Wonder where I could pick up a pair... how much did it cost you to get them painted?

There's a pair online!

Yep, I saw that too! Well, the shop are friends of mine but I wouldn't think it would be more than $100-$150 tops painted/cleared.
