Do you feel it is rather expensive to insure an escape?
I'm trying to debate on whether to buy out my lease on my F150 or to get a new escape. I checked on insurance rates on the escape and it is only $12 cheaper a year to insure than my F150. When new the F150 was about $10,000 more than the new escape costs. Our explorer is about a $100 a year cheaper than it as well. I assumed it would be closer to the cost of the explorer.
This insurance crap makes no sense to me. :wall:

Insurance rates vary from state to state and city to city. Someone once said that insurance costs were tied to the amount of accidents a vehilce line is involved in. I don't know if that is true or not but it could make sense.

Our Escape is about $10.00 less to insure than my Liberty so the pricing seems right on for me. Actually the Escape was less expensive to insure than the Sebring that we traded in as well.

If it were me, I'd keep the F150... But I've always been a fan of pickup trucks.

When I traded my Focus for the Escape my rate went down $2 a month.
The agent explained that the Focus was more likely to be a write-off after a collision and a small SUV is more likely to be repaired.

I just got my insurance bill last week. The price from March 04, 2010 to September 04, 2010 is $363.00. That's about $60 a month for full coverage.

I was shocked when my insurance went down $40/month when I traded my Mustang and got the Escape. It runs about the same as our F-150, but the 150 is 4 years old...who knows!

Interesting tidbit...I was also looking at a VW Jetta; my insurance would have went up $4/month on the Jetta compared to the Mustang.

Really? My move from a Focus (wagon) to Escape increased my insurance $40/month. Interesting that a Civic would have cost me even more than the Escape.

My friend an I were looking at insurance rates online and we discovered just his postal code compared to mine was costing him several hundred more per year.

Edit: P.S. thanks for lending us Kadri for a game :)

I wonder if the Focus wagon had a better rate than my ZX5? I'm glad the Kadri move is only temporary we'll need him for the playoffs. The real battle in the OHL this year will be the Spits and Colts of course.

my 2010 32kcdn$ cost 420$ fully insured with a get new one option if totaled in the first 36 months...

i think my 01 windstar cost about 325$ (no new value) a year so this little escape is very cheap to put insurance on...

Is that per year or for a 6 month policy? Our 6 month policies are way highter than that. 2008 f150 4x4 is $702, our 2006 explorer 4x4 is $652 for 6 months the escape will be $696 for 6 months and that is without a replacement policy. I have been told that if i move farther from detroit that my rates will greatly decrease but i like living close to work. When i lived in detroit my old f150 4x4 cost me about $1100 for a six month policy.

ha? here in canada we dont have 6 month possibility ... all is based on 1 year basis.

1 thing to consider here is that we have insurance on our driver's license that covers peoples so my car insurance is lower about that cause they will never have to pay for a dead person if it hit it with my car, that's my driver's license insurance that will cover it. My normal insurance will only have to pay for material. i.e. car damages.

driver's license here cost 150$ a year (including those insurance). about 125$ is for insurance in that 150$.

but even with that it's about 420$ + 125$ = 545$ so not bad at all... and i'm 47 years old with no major accident in the past years so that help decrease my insurance cost...

what is the cost of your driver's license? just to know

I think it is only like $18 for 5 years for a drivers license.

When we renew our insurance every 6 months we have to pay like $80 for some injured motorist fund or something similar. Which i believe is to help people who do not pay their insurance and get injured.

I carry gap insurance and have low deductables with extended coverage. I do this so that if something does happen hopefully i have enough coverage that anyone involved will be taken care of.
