Hi.

Is there a filter on the transmission on my 2004 model?
Our last car was a 1994 falcon and it have a filter.
My husband does all the maintenance on our cars and would like to know.
Hope that someone can help us!!

Only if, the previous owner installed one. The filter is on the inside and you only get to it by doing a tear down. There is a drain plug on the bottom. All he needs to do, is a drain, close to 4quarts will come out and refill. Some members will drive a bit and do another drain and fill.

There is only a coarse screen which you can't get to without dropping the valve body. Pulling the drain plug will leave some fluid inside the torque converter and fluid channels, so I do three times the recommended interval (the interval in your maintenance manual is for a complete fluid exchange).

In that thread I used Repco Dexron III. I wouldnt use this again. I would use either Valvoline Dexron III or Castrol Dexron III.
