lol like title says my key somehow came off key ring and fell down a shaft (underground garage venting shaft) i can see the damn key 15 feet below the metal grate with no key ring on so magnet doesnt work i dont think... tried using a fishing rod, going to go try an electricians fish tape now.. any other ideas lol? this stupid 250$ key is staring me right in the face and i cant reach it lol.

Try tape rolled with stikey side out on the end of a long stick or fishing poll
lol tried fishing rod, when i went to the building office they handed it to me and said good luck :wall:
grating unfortunatly was just welded down 3 months ago lol which management also found amusing, just my luck. i did however just think of that stick idea also thanks, going to go get a long piece of wood and put some of the super strong 3m double sided tape on the end (crossing fingers)

turns out the materials i brought were 2 long pieces of trim, duct tape and 3m double sided tape. brought the duct tape tot ape the two pieces of trim together but after trying the 3m tape once decided reversed duct tape would be better and sure enough after 5-6 tried i got my key back!!!!!!!!!!! thanks everyone for the tips!
goes without saying now, if you have two keys, buy the cheap third spare while you can! i am definatly going to do that right away along with add a key ring to the key so i can use a magnet if theres a next time

Sounds like a plan! I better get after it tonite too! My wife lost (actually they were misplaced) her set of keys to the Tribbie while I was out of town last month, and was using my set. Was I nervous about that? Um, let's just say that I love my wife!
