Hi Escape people,
This is my first post, and maybe, after everyone reads it, it may be my last , as the subject matter borders on ' clandestine '.
Here is my question : I just took delivery of a 2011 Escape, and my first order of business was to spray some 'rust-proofing' oil into the doors. I have done this on many cars, and it seems to slow down and perhaps even prevent rust from forming at the lower portions of all doors. I have found that Ford cars usually have (2) oblong slots on the lower inner lip where water can drain out, and it is into these (2) slots where I place the spray nozzle when I spray the rustproofing.
Guess what ? For the first time ever, each of my doors has only (1) slot , the second slots are outlined on each door , but NOT actually punched out.
Am I being stupid to ask if other owners have this situation ? I think that (2) slots are better for water drain even if I never rust-proofed the doors. Should I try to 'force' out the outlined slots ?
What are your thoughts ? Probably no one even cares, but that's life.
Thanks

I never even thought about that. I have just dealt with rust and/or holes whenever they came and fixed what was necessary to pass inspection. By the time I have gotten rust, it is past the point that I am concerned with how the vehicle looks...and I will just continue driving it until it either dies or I am forced to put it out of its misery.
