In 1938, two years before WWII fell upon Greece, a "Times" of London reporter is doing a travelogue in the Greek countryside.
He sets base in a remote village up on the mountains and becomes friendly with a local.
He notices that going to and coming back from the field he cultivated, he was going in front mounted on the mule while his wife followed on foot, some yards behind and loaded with all the tools on her back.
After the war the reporter visited the same village to record the changes that had occured.
To his great surprise and satisfaction he sees now the wife mounted on the mule, tools hanging from the sides and him following on foot some yards behind.
He congratulates the local for his change of character, only to get the answer:
"Sure, I had to shange character. Do you know how many mines are still buried around the village?"
