Hi

I found http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/46817 ... ercon.html
where we can read:

SPECIAL SERVICE MESSAGES 16896
2001-2004 ESCAPE USE ONLY 'MERCON' -- NOT 'MERCON V' OR 'MERCON SYNTHETIC' FOR THE CD4E TRANSMISSION ALL 2001-2004 ESCAPE VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A CD4E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE EXCLUSIVELY USE 'MERCON' FLUID -- NOT 'MERCON V' OR 'MERCON SYNTHETIC'. MERCON IS THE ONLY FORD APPROVED AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID FOR USE IN THE CD4E. MERCON FLUID PART # IS XT-2-QDX (QUARTS) AND XT-2-DDX (55 GALLON DRUM). FOR CANADA MERCON FLUID PART # IS CXT-2-BM FOR BULK, CXT-2-4LM FOR 4 LITRE BOTTLES, AND CXT-2-LM12 FOR 1 LITRE BOTTLES.

Do not use synthetic Dexron III/Mercon in the CD4E transmission. Use Dexron III/Mercon made from natural oil. The is a case where the cheapest is better, no additives or inhibitors added, the trans does not like those things.

I want to add a little of ATF oil to my trans because it is on minimum level
and i do not want to make mistake that will cost me 2k$

also i have question how would You have done on my place
My Escape is from july of 2005 and odometer is actually only 12.680miles
Do You Think to change whole oil because 5Years have go ?and oil is old?

I was trying to find Mercvon (not Mercon V) oil in Europe but it is not possible
different product lines by FORD in compare to USA/Canada

I have spec in instructions and on dipstick to use Mercon ATF Ford Part Number XT-2-QDX
but in Europe maybe the most similar oil i found is

which says Dextron III / Mercon mineral ATF: mineral oil ATF for Ford ESP-M2C 138-CJ, Ford M2C 166-H, GM, Allison C4

any other brand oils for ATF have stupid descriptions like multi use or universal or
can be used as Mercon and Mercon V (together) etc..
Best example : http://gulf.pl/pl/informacje_o_produkta ... hicle.html
just see the specifications.... only breaking pregnancy not listed

Thank You

Thank You guys for Your answering!

How do You think ?
change whole oil in transmission because is 5years old or
drive until first 40k miles? and now only add to full level of dipstick about 200ml?

Thank You
actual mileage is only 12680 miles

I have 4miles to work place :)

do You advise me to change transmission oil with this mileage after 5 years ?

Greetings
Thank You SUVord for answering and Your advice about changing oil

so i should:

"1/Warm up the engine and turn it off.Gear selector at Park.
2/Unscrew the transmission plug underneath and wait until you see no more to come out.About 3.5 to 4 liters will come out.
3/Screw the plug back in and fill the trasnission through the check hole with the same amount of fresh oil as the one that came out.
4/Start the engine. After it is warmed up and with the hand-brake on, go through all gears with the selector, waiting at least 5 seconds at each gear.Repeat this at least a couple of times.Turn the engine off.
Repeat steps 1 to 4 three times at least and you are done."

Do You lift up the front of car to drain the transmission oil? maybe more oil will come out?

so to repeat three times 1-4 i need 12litres of oil?
