I saw Jonas' post recently about grills on his '08 Tribute and somebody answered with an eBay mesh grill that I think looks really cool, but I can't find anything like that for my '05 Tribute.
Anybody want to help out? Or do they not even exist?

The problem with the 1st gen tribute's is that the grille is attached to the bumper, it is one piece, the only part that comes off is the colour matched strips that line the grille. There is only one aftermarket option I know of for our tributes, and that is a lund billet cover that just lies on top of the grille. BUT IMO it's a weird look, does not match the style of the truck. I'm in the middle of making my own grille and to be honest this is your best bet, as other has done on here as well you need to cut the tabs that connect your grille to your bumper and then add in your own insert (mine is pressed mesh powder coated black) then you must re attact it I rigged up a new brace so I think it may be more stable than the stock set up. Hope that helps

Technically, aren't the 05-06 models considered 2nd gen because they were slightly redesigned from the 01-04s? But I see your point.
Thanks for the comment though, Midnight. As a 17 years old female though I think that building my own grill is out of the question... but thanks! I'm thinking of trading in my Tribute for something smaller, anyway.

That's exactly the kind of thing I was looking for! Seems to have easy installation, but it's a little pricier than I wanted to pay.. thanks so much though!
Now just gotta figure out if I'm keeping the Tribby or not. Gas mileage is killing me and I do love SUVs but I have no real use for mine.

No problem, I have to agree the tribute is somewhat thirsty... but I don't think I could part ways just yet lol

Having an SUV now I wouldn't go back. It's a small SUV with decent mileage. Very safe vehicle and enough room to haul a lot of crap or ppl in. Definitely not a bad ride.

Of the choices on the market, I think we have the best of the two worlds. Economy and versatility. Hard to beat. They are good looking SUVs and a four banger triplet is economical, and still has all the capability of the six, except for pulling a trailer. If I need to pull a trailer I'll use my pickup or rent a truck. It's cheaper in the long run. Just Imho. :)

That's all true, but mine is a 6 cyl and I just want something smaller. Nothing's definite at the moment but if I do decide to keep my Tribute then I want to do some mods :) I'm also really interested in the 12V to 110V converter that I saw Xcape post. Really cool and it'd be great for my cell charger since I don't wanna buy a car charger

But with an inverter you can definitely make greater use of it other than a cell charger. She can straighten her hair in the car!

Hahaha, just for clarification, I don't straighten or curl my hair, but it would be nice to have a little plug right there if I ever needed it. I'm a chronic "forget to charge my camera" kind of person too, and it doesn't take batteries >:[ so it'd be very handy.

Actually, I'm sure it would be worth it. And am thinking about this one as well, since we do go camping once in a while it could be worth more than just convience. Maybe the next option from the factory? :tumble: Yeah, right. :(

My apologies for the jokes at your "expense". Nothing malicious, I promise.

I believe you Jonas :D and thanks!

Very true, Scooter... I was on another (no names!) forum for my Tribby (really an Escape forum) and to be COMPLETELY honest, it sucked! Nobody was ever on or updated anything.

We may need a Shout Box if nothing else to do all this chatter in the future...
