I haven't had one but from what I hear they are hands down the best thing you can buy premade for the Escape if you have a 01-04. MTX is a great sub and the thunderform box gives it the amount of air needed for good sound. You won't be disappointed.

PM 'Surfscape'. He has one and loves it. He'll be able to give you a more detailed view about it than I can.

As BC said, I have one and have never regretted it. It fills unusable space in the back which leaves the usable space for... well use. It has over a cubic foot of sealed internal space so good for the boom factor on a 12". I'm more a metal head that a street thug so it might not be enough to induce spontanious bowel movements in the car next to you like some systems but it does have a real good thump.

I upgraded my door speakers with pioneer 4 ways, added the door sail tweets and put this sub with a 250w MTX amp in on the stock head unit and it is more than enough for me.

good luck.

They can be modded to work in 05-07 models...someone has done it but I'm not sure of the details on how to accomplish that.

In the 01-04 rear panel there is a recess that the MTX fit into. In the 05-07 this recess is smaller so you have to cut the panel a little to make it work, but this area is then covered up by the box so you never see it. Only issue there is if you sell and take the box out then it will look bad. They might even make on for the 05 and up I'm not sure...

Is it possible to put a panel from an 01-04 Escape in the spot for the 05-07 Escape? So if I were to goto a junkyard and just pull that piece from another Escape I wonder if I can put in mine...

Hey guys,
New to the forum. Was doing some reasearch looking for a vehicle specific enclosure for my 2005 Ford Escape. I am looking to do a whole new audio set up but I don't want to lose the usable space by throwing a huge box back there. If someone does figure out a way to use the MTX enclosure without making the vihicle look horrible, I would be more than interested in the process..

Regards,
Primo (Escape City Newbie)

Surfscape's got the older version of them...where the amp is external...I've seen newer versions where it is on the side, partially built-in to the enclosure.

On a complete side note, is it possible to adjust the gain of the factory amplifier for the sub? I am for the most part satisfied with the stock sub, and I would like to make it a little bit louder and put my bass back down to flat (have it set at +1 on the HU).

iam going to purchase the same mtx encloser for my 05 escape tommorow It is the newer style with the amp mounted internaly, when i held it into position it looked like it should slip ri9ght in after i pull out the little plastic storage panel, only thing the encloser is grey and my interior is black so i will have to dye the encloser to match my interior, I will also have to unhook the factory amp and sub located on the passanger side and route the wires over to the drivers side and tie into them that way, Iam hopeing to have alot more thump than what i have now, esspecially after putting in my new jvc head unit, I will let you all know how it owrks out and if you like post some pics D.
