I purchased a slightly used (2550 miles) 2010 Mustang GT last week. I've been looking seriously since June but finally found one last week in my price range with the options I wanted. I posted a few pics in the "My Day Went" thread but was told I "needed" to make a separate thread. So here it is. Unfortunately with the Holiday and the lousy weather, I haven't had a chance to get any decent photos. For now, I will just present the photos from the dealerships ad. Here is the exterior:

Ooo wow. That's one hell of a driveway buddy. Pure class. :thumb:
 Yea. That '97 Lumina seals the deal :D Thanks :peace:
Haha jealous!
Gears. The single greatest mod I've done to my Bullitt. Felt like a whole new car.

Congrats, it's sharp looking.

Sweet Rob. My brother-in-law (a Rob too BTW :thumb:) rented a Mustang while visiting earlier this year, V6, it was beasty. I can only imagine the GT beastiness. Way to go man.
Thanks Tom! It's got a beastly growl for sure. At first I thought it might be a little too loud but I got used to it very quickly ;) I still haven't really dipped into the throttle though. I back off when it gets to about 4000 RPM. I'm going to wait until after my first oil change to see just how beastly it really is :D

Thanks! I might think about changing out the gears down the line. I need to see if the power it's got is good enough for me. I think it will be. I'm not looking to go street racing or anything. I'm also concerned about the effect on gas mileage. It's not great to start. From what I've read, it will drop 1-2 mpg with the 3:73. The trip computer is telling me the Mustang is averaging around 17.4 now. The way the prices are rising now, I might just stick with the 3:31...

I went from 3.27 to 4.10 with my 5 speed manual and I only dropped about 1.5MPG, but it shaved nearly 1/2 a second on the 1/4 mile time. It accelerates a lot faster. I believe the current auto in the Mustangs is also a 5 speed, 5R55S. I imagine it has a similar O/D gear ratio that my manual does. You could probably even go to 4.10s and only lose about 2MPG, but I understand about gas. It's creeping up in the Midwest, so I bet the coasts are feeling it even moreso.

Remember, the power may feel good, but more will feel better. :calvin:
2010s use 5-speed autos. The 2011s+ use a six.

Gotcha. Then a 2010 should be a 5R55S, what model trans is in the 2011?
Tang is correct. 2010 has the 5 speed auto. 2011 has the 6 speed.

I have no idea what the designation for either transmission is. I haven't had a chance to delve into any details about the car yet. I would guess the 2010 trans is the same as the one in the '09 Mustangs since they didn't really change the drivetrain until 2011...

According to the all-knowing Wikipedia...

6 speed manual: TR-6060 Getrag / Ford MT82
6 speed auto: 6R80

The TR-6060 is actually quite popular. It's apparently also in the current Dodge Challenger, Camaro SS, CTS-V, and several (Ford AU) Falcons.
This has nothing to do with Robt's Mustang. I think Wiki is correct, the 5 speed manuals until this year (2011) were the Tremec 3650. Next year I think they are going to International Rockwell for their transmissions. I have no idea what this will do to the six speed manuals. Auto boxes are built inhouse. Designed on a joint venture with General Motors.
dude that looks awsome, huge mustang fan. The white stitching on the black seats looks fantiastic!
Thanks! :thumb: I've gotten a lot of positive comments on the stitching. Especially from the ladies :D I wish we didn't have so much snow here in NJ so I could drive it around a little more...
Looks like FUN :thumb: Nice detail on the white stitching
Nice photos of your " Mustang ".
Congratulations Rob. :thumb:
looks great, can't wait to get mine, a 2005 GT. :thumb:
