OK, it looks like "SUNPOWR" is not an option - with VA so unfriendly toward solar, there's a 70-year payback after Federal support (100 year raw payback) and it just makes no sense. SOOooo, I'm turning the "SUNPOWR" plates back in and looking for something new (BTW, these plates have been on the Escape for the last year-and-a-half - seems ironic that they've been on an SUV for a placekeeper). If I order the plates now, I MAY have them before the car (due next month).
Whoever comes up with the winning name GETS A FREE RIDE!!! (that's RIDE, not DRIVE).
The rules are 7 characters (plus a space or dash) for the regular plates; 6 characters for "Clean Special Fuels Vehicle" plate. You can see what they look like by Googling "VA DMV" and designing a plate.
Here's where the fight (I mean discussion) stands:
I like "OIL FREE" - it's correct (and makes a political statement when described as "OIL FREEdom" from the stranglehold of imported oil). Mrs. prowlie says it sounds like an acne medication.
SHE likes "NO GAS", which is also correct, but it reminds me of the old (incorrect) Nova story (where the car didn't sell in certain countries because it means "no gas" or "no go" (stalled)).
I don't like "battery" or "plug..." combinations since, in a couple of years, ALL hybrids will be plug-in (and they already have batteries - not a distinguishing characteristic).
Here's some others that have been discussed or used (including "plug" and "battery" types):
OIL FREE
BATERY
SPARKZZ
NO GAS
PLUG-N
PURRRRR (as in quiet, builds on the cat/multiple-r/sound from GRROWL the Prowler)
other Tesla owners:
MR TESLA
TESLA88 (mine would be TESLA250 - too long)
RCHRGBL
COIL
TESLAAA
DC PWRRR
AMP UP
RECHRG
BAT R EE
SO, all you creative types, WHAT CAN YOU COME UP WITH???
