Hello Big Chris and Camus. I am curious. Would that new focus, be sharing the body platform of Kuga ? The rear and side of focus looks different. Do you reckon the front end, looks similar to the Kuga?

For some reason , the focus frontal shape reminds me of Kuga.

the focus shares the platform with the volvo c30/s40/v50/c70 (to an extent). the kuga i believe shares the platform with the euro ford mondeo and galaxy/s-max.

the Focus RS's 2.5T is based on the same found in the volvos (badged T5) as above, as well as the kuga/mondeo/s-max and the euro Focus ST :)

The US and Canada are getting that car, as well as the Fiesta, and they are considering the KA as well...those cars, plus the resurgance of the Taurus SHO, and the update of the Mustang and Fusion all hint at exciting times ahead for Ford enthusiasts here in NA...

I think that this might be my 2nd vehicle, when we need one...

The current North American Focus, even after the 2008 reskin, is still based on the original European Focus C170 platform, introduced in Europe in 1998 and in North America in 2000.

The newer Euro/Asian Focus was redesigned onto Ford's corporate C1 platform, like arbs said, in 2004. The current Mazda3 is also based on that platform.

North American Foci will switch over to the C1 platform sometime in 2009 or 2010.

I've never liked the Focus. Ever. Probably never will
Like Ford's ad says, drive one. You'll probably be surprised.

And with a manual transmission, even our current model is a lot of fun to drive.

I always have trouble getting out of our Escort, to the point that I have now slightly bent the door hinges from pulling myself out.

I love driving it, though. The amount of feedback is great - the engine vibrations, steering feel, and road noise, plus I have the SPI engine which is American V-TAK, yo!

When I took driver's ed over two years ago, the only cars my driving school had were 3 Ford Focuses, so I have driven a couple. I hated everything about them.
Our daughter has an 08 Focus and she loves it . :)

I have driven it and it rides very well. Also very comfortable.
I guess that it is just a matter of preference. :)
I currently very much enjoy driving an SUV. I can't see myself ever going back to a car. But ya just never know what the future will bring.

Me neither. I like the bells and whistles. :thumb:

This is our daughters first new car and first car payment so we strongly advised her to stick with something she could afford.
Especially since we had to co-sign.

The Focus is the domestic equivalent to a Civic, at least the first gen like mine was (00-04). What I mean is, like the Civic, you can do just about anything you want to them now, from forced induction, bolt-ons, stereos, suspensions, to exteriors, etc. If you look at my picture posts in the pictures sub-forums, you'll see that I had an 01. It was a ZX3 Premium (rims, power windows and locks, A/C, factory alarm, etc). I started doing conversions/mods to it, and I went with factory Ford mods, as far as cosmetics went (01 Focus WRC rear spoiler, 03 SVT EAP rims and 03 SVT "Moda" door mouldings, ST170 headlights, RS Side skirts, upper and lower 01 European grilles, etc). I also had a full SHM (Sean Hyland Motorsport) Suspension on it which was made by Suspension Dynamics, and pretty much equivalent to the RS's suspension, and above the SVT's. This was backed up by 17"x7" SVT rims with Fuzion ZRi tires on it for the summer. It also had some bolt-ons under the hood, exhaust, etc. It was a car that didn't look too out of the ordinary to most people, yet noticeably "different" to those who knew Foci. It could also keep up to Impreza WRX's on twisty roads (much to their owners disdain..hehehe), and could easily

I think that when the new Focus FINALLY comes to NA, it will be like the 00-04 version all over again...a VERY competent performer right out of the box, comfortable, and reasonably priced. The 1st gen stole a LOT of the Corolla and Civic's customer base (includes new/potential buyers too) when it came out, and maybe they might do it again.

Hopefully Ford will survive the current marketplace, and get people who haven't looked at a Ford lately, to look again...
