Hello all,

I recently had my tires and rims changed from OEM 215/60/16 to 245/65/17. I love my new tires and look, however I have a couple of questions...

1. The only way to recalibrate de Speedo (i have a 12.9% difference) is to have the Xcal (I dont have one)?
2. How is the unsprung (did i spell it ok?) weight Affecting my handling? This tires weight 10pounds more.
I've always described the suspension of the E soft, and the brakes mushy, but I dunno if there is anything else to worry about...

I looked this topic before asking...but instead of hijacking the thread, decided to start one new.

Thanks in advance!

1/The speedo should be recalibrated at any Ford dealer's workshop.
2/The unsprung weight puts more strain on all moving parts of the driving train, suspension and steering and the consequences of that depend on the driving habits.
As for the handling, the turning circle has increased and it will feel somewhat heavier but much more precise on dry tarmac.Better than the original wheels for sand and snow.On wet roads the chances of aquaplanning have much increased.
The braking will be more effective.
Enjoy them with many happy miles on them.

The dealerhsip that I have been to FORD and otherwise wouldnt or couldnt do a SPEEDO change. I always found that you can only change it yourself, XCAL or otherwise
The escape stock suspension is not bad at all, I have had the E in some sketchy pitch situations on dirt and street conditions and handled well for what it is (before/after front spring upgrade). You have to understand that 10lbs isnt much in respect to suspension performance. Only if left unbalanced. Yes it will feel different cause you have a wider tire more traction to the floor

I had my speedo calibrated at a Ford dealership.
It is a 10 minutes process and I guess most places don't want to deal with such a trivial thing with no financial benefit.Shame on them.
In that case I would take my car to a racing tuning place and have it done.
