Hello all. The wife and I just purchased a 2015 escape se. We really love it. Well, this morning my wife put the car in reverse and a message saying rear park aid on/off came up on the display. the rear camera came on but I've never seen that come up before. I toggle the on /off screen back and forth and hit OK but nothing happens. I went to the camera settings and turned the parking aid on and off but nothing happened as well. The green,yellow, and red blocks did not appear. Am I doing something wrong?

Welcome to the city, Sans.
I don't think you're doing anything wrong. The system recalibrates itself every time you start the car. If anything is within close proximity to any sensors, it may make the system default when shifted into gear

turn it off, start again… If the errors persist then you may have a problem

first pull away from the shrubbery/light pole ( ;
based on your name I am going to guess you do not get frost encapsulation of your car

Your last resort will be disconnecting the 12 V battery for five minutes, then reconnecting.

I think you could rest assured if the camera is working, your system is still functional. If the person driving is paying attention, you're not going to back into anything… Despite having an alarm or not

I have read that if the system fails, everything is glitchy… Including the camera going in and out

Parking Aid is the rear (which is optionally available on your SE) sensors, not the backup camera.

That message to disable it should always show when you put the vehicle in reverse. It is handy to disable it if you have a trailer connected, for example.

I don't think the front sensors are available on the SE, but there would be a button below the climate control to turn it off (it is enabled and active in any gear not P or N, and speeds under 6 mph).

IF you have MyFordTouch (the larger screen, not the 4.2 inch screen) you can change a variety of things for the rear view camera, like delay, park aid visual alerts, and guidelines (which vary if you have active park or not). Settings (gear icon)>Vehicle>Rear View Camera.
