I've been perusing the board the past couple of days, and think that you guys are providing great info. I had decided to purchase an FEH back in January, but obviously couldn't find one. When I found out that the 09 model was going to be updated with several improvements, I decided to wait until I could order one in April.

I plan on ordering on April 17, so that hopefully I'll be at the front of the line and not have a 9 month wait. I've never ordered a vehicle before, so I was wondering if anybody on here new the answers to my questions:

(1) Is there anyplace that I will have visibility prior to April 17 of new options/colors, etc?

(2) Does anybody know for sure if they will accept the x-plan pricing on the 09 model?

(3) Does anybody know if ordering on April 17 will help speed anything up, or would it be the same wait if I wait until a week later or so, giving me time to hopefully review options and colors?

Thanks in advance for any info you have.

Welcome aboard, and thanks! I also tried to find an '08 FEH last year, but I had no luck, either.

To your questions, (not that I'm an expert on any of this):

1) The Ford Fleet site often has pre-release brochures and information, although I didn't see any there yet today. It does look like Ford is releasing the '09 models early, like they did with the '05 models early in '04.

2) Did Ford refuse X-Plan pricing on hybrids? If not, I don't see why they wouldn't allow you to use it. I leased my '05 with an X-Plan through a local Ford employee.

3) I'd get the order in as soon as possible. I would hope that Ford dealers would have internal sales brochures or sell sheets that would give you the info you needed.

I'll keep an eye open for any info I can find on the '09 Hybrids.

Again, welcome aboard!

Well, I ordered it today as planned. Unfortunately, they had NO info in terms of price or any other specs. They also weren't able to guess as to a production date. I just went ahead and ordered on blind faith that the price is similar to the 08 model. There will hopefully be more info available soon. I was able to find out that they have a few new color options, and they also have a new Hybrid Limited trim available. Other than that, the major changes from the 08 were previously announced.

Good luck with the order & delivery.

Reminds me a bit of our experience ordering the very first model of Escape Hybrid… we started canvassing the local Ford dealers in 2002 shortly after the first FEH was shown at auto shows and most had zero information (some didn't even know there was going to be a hybrid version of the Escape).

Finally, in 2003, a "waiting list" was started and we were able to put our name down as part of a queue for eventual ordering (with no firm dates as to when Ford would begin taking orders for the FEH).

In June 2004 we were finally contacted and told we could place an order for a 2005 Escape Hybrid. Options and prices were available, and we had to put a substantial deposit down to confirm our place in line for delivery (no guarantees as to when that would occur).

Ford began manufacturing the Escape Hybrids in August 2004, and the first delivery to a prominent environmentalist occurred in September 2004. We didn't hear a word about our order until the call finally came in October 2004 that our vehicle was enroute... it felt like a long wait (and it was if you date back to 2002), but it was certainly worth it!

I think the 2009 Escape Hybrid will prove to be a good upgrade to the original.
