Why can't I use my hotmail or gmail email addresses with this site? What a pain. I had to use another email account that I never use just to join. It doesn't make this site very attractive to use.

We had a rash of spammers that would spoof IP addresses, meaning that blocking "their" IP would only be blocking innocent users. They would create new usernames for each spam message, so a username ban didn't work, either. The only common link seemed to be a GMail or Hotmail e-mail address, so it was either ban those or deal with several spammers a day.

If you PM me your banned e-mail address, I can change it in the system for you.

Thanks for understanding, and sorry for the inconvenience. The Russian and Chinese spam we were receiving was getting out of control, and we can't ban spoofed IP addresses.

There are dozens of other free e-mail services, but I won't elaborate so that we need to ban them, too.
