Noisy Conti's

This is my first post, so please be gentle.

I have a 2005 Escape Limited with the factory Continental tires on the factory aluminum rims. My previous truck was a 1994 Explorer Limited with Dunlop Rover tires. These tires barely made a sound. But since owning the Escape I can't believe how noisy the Conti. tires are. Are these tires really this noisy? Or is it just bad sound insulting on the Escape. I'm seriously thinking of buying new tires (Goodyear Fortera TripleTreds) to resolve the tire noise issue.
