I had an occasional misfire occur when cold starting and the A/C or defrost was on. I figured it was loading the system enough to cause the ignition coil to crap out on me. After a while it would clear out, but not after throwing a P0305 - Cylinder 5 Five Misfire.
Two weeks ago it didn't go away and since #5 is accessible, checked it out. I Switched coil to # 6, cleared codes and sure enough, P0306. I found a less-than-Ford quality coil at Checker Auto, only one in town in stock, swapped out the inferior boot on the new coil with the old and no problems since. Just glad it wasn't on the rear bank. I also see why Ford puts on the pretty engine cover. Don't want to scare off any potential do-it-yourselfers.

:thumb: :doh: or is it > :rant: :doh: VERY good, that you changed coils too see if it threw a different code. That is something I would have forgotten to try...... :yes:
