I ran a magnet along the step rail and it would not stick. However, I weigh almost 300 lbs and it supports me. That's pretty strong.

I'm actually looking to use it as a rockslider/nerfbar. Has to be at least 3/16 flat stock or equal in strength. With such a mild lift I am trying to mount the rocksliders flush with the frame. Tough...

If you want a true rock slider, you'll have to fab your own. I've had a few Westin bars, and while they are sturdy, they are not rock sliders.

Previous posts are right, the running boards are most certainly not a replacement for true rock sliders. They are plastic and attach to the body at the sheet metal interface and while they are sturdy enough to stand on and put things on the roof rack they would not stand up to a chance encounter with a rock. Fabbing up some real sliders that attach to the frame wouldn't be too difficult as long as you had access to a welder and a good metal source.
