A very good friend of mine took me out on his boat. Went up to St. Clare Shores for lunch.
Ready to leave

Ambassador Bridge

The Skipper? Gilligan took photo.... :shades:

Approaching Detroit

Sorry about the small size. First time I ever used my phone for pics and trying to re size and all. I'll get the hang of it. Also, I almost had him talked into going to Buffalo N.Y. But he said there were TWO nasty drop-offs in that area and he wasn't familiar with the area. Oh well maybe some other time........

There's all kinds of talk about it. There was even talk about adding lanes to the existing one. But No-One can come to any agreement. It's bad enough that, I-75 is closed for rebuilding the entrance to the bridge.

Nice boat! It's getting time to put those things away in a couple months. I used to live near Ashtabula, OH. and going out on Lake Erie was almost second nature...

My brother had a 24 Ft. cabin cruiser and it was pretty good. The best was his 32 ft. Chris Craft that he got for remodeling someone's house. It had to be rebuilt, which we did, then took it out once and he sold it. That thing could go through the gas! But on Lake Erie which is pretty rough at times it was absolutely head and shoulders above the "little" 24 footer.

PK, looks like a beautiful day out on the ole Detroit River. The views reminds me of the Boblo Boats in the old days! No RenCen on the skyline back then, just Cobo Hall, Ford Auditorium, and the slag at Zug Island.

My Dad back in the Downriver Detroit area just bought himself a "new" boat. He and his buddies like to go Coho fishing on Erie, and he was tired of being the only one without a boat. He got a 1998 Glastron 18" bowrider. They usually put in down near Luna Pier and head down toward Toledo. I'm hoping to come out next summer and spend some time out on the water again.

My Dad has finally decided to give-up his boat....Oh, no it's not what you think, he got his 1st 48" Toshiba Flat screen TV and now it's "Lake? What lake? I've been around the darn thing 10,000 times." :D

You mean Walleye ? Lake Erie is one of the top spots in the U.S. for them. Hope your dad has a Ohio fishing licence! I've heard that there pretty strict. They'll take your stuff in a hart beat. They even carry the portable credit card gizmo's to pay your fine.......

Thanks for the photos PollKat. :) I can imagine your friends boat would be quite powerful.
Sure is stone. It has 2 (502 cid) Chevy engines in it. Wide open, it burns about 125 gallons an hour. :worry: He told me, if it's close to empty. It costs about $1,000 to fill up. :bill: He hasn't been out as much as he would like too. With the high cost of petrol.... So I reached in my pocket. Showed him a 20. He  and said that pays for starting and warming up the engines.

My dad's fishing boat has a 2-cylinder Honda outboard. That $20 fills the tank and still has something left for snacks.

the good ol detroit river. i dont miss drinking and driving the boat there. (i used to be young and stupid). getting chased by the US coast guard or whoever they were ah good times. i wish i could remember the name of the restaurant/bar that i used to goto. we could get on the boat behind my house and drive down the river and dock at the bar. it was farther then walking, but it was always an event lol. (btw if you find a gas cap for an old little motor its mine HAHA)
