More sticky accelerator pedals on Toyotas, including the 2009-2010 RAV4. Oooops.

http://content.usatoday.com/communities ... s-pedal/1#

And this time, it's not related to shifty floor mats. Even worse? The link that USA Today provided to Toyota to help owners has been removed from Toyota's site.

If you own one of the cars in the article, or if you know someone else who does, please look at the video at the end of this article. It could save someone's life:

My God ! Unbelievable !

What's even more unbelievable is this: " The automaker says the problem is "rare" and affects only certain Toyota models."

How can they possibly say this is rare when they have already recalled 4.2 million vehicles and are in the process of recalling 2.3 million more? Geez !!

Tell me about it, I drive a 2007 Camry as a work car, and the pedal has stuck on me 4 times, i told dealers about it last year and they say it is just my floor mats etc etc... ( I had to slam it to neutral, use my LEFT leg to step on the e-brakes ... camry e-brake is a pedal..and pump the gas apedals a few time for it to realease..IN a busy intersection! )

Oh well, NOW a whole year later it is a recall... I ought to sue there asses!! :cuss:

Oh man I really hope Toyota can fix this issue... No car company likes recalls like this.

Suspending production is a big deal for this area, the plants at Woodstock and Cambridge are only about 30 mins away from each other and the local economy will certainly feel the pinch.
I have a friend who just got hired at the Woodstock plant, he won't be happy about this.

The latest news is that Toyota is stopping sales and suspending production of these models. They currently do not know how to fix the problem.

"Toyota has said it was unaware of any accidents or injuries due to the pedal problems associated with the recall, but could not rule them out for sure."

That's total BS. Sure, they blame the mats on the Lexus deaths, but what about the one that went straight into a lake (the mats were found in the trunk as per their recall instructions)

I guess the federal government was going to step in and force Toyota to suspend sales if they didn't make the announcement the other day. Not looking good so far there Toyota.

Now that some news media are reporting that this has been a known issue for years, it just reminded me about the car that hit my vehicle a few years ago. It backed out of a parking space, accelerated into my parked car and continued until it smashed into a building. The driver could not explain what happened. It was a Toyota Camry.

Even though insurance covered the cost of repairing the physical damage The trade-in value of my vehicle (traded in last month for the Escape ) was diminished considerably because of that collision. No one compensates you for that. So, I too, am a possible victim.

Four or five people in an Avalon were drown last month. The car took off and ran through a fence, across a grassy area and flipped into a large pond at a high dollar housing developement. I suppose it's the same issue. One of the guys I work with has an Avalon, it hasn't taken off on it's own yet. But the Toyota dealer told him they would give him a free car till they could fix his, if his misbehaved. Oh what a feeling...Toyota!

His other car is one of those Honda's that burst into flames and burn the house down...

What are the chances that he isn't going to have problems?

Glad i did not, trade in for a Toyota.
I had a chat to my service tech.
Toyota down under, for any of their models are very expensive.
Not overly keen, on any of their car shapes.

My parents once asked me,what vehicle i would have chosen.
This was if the escape, did not have too much priority.
Toyota a no go, because of mediocre designs.
Honda a no.

Mitsubishi?. No. Do not like them. :stifle:
Definitely not " Holden". :barf:
A brand new Landrover discoverer or freelander. But pricing for them is too expensive for me.
If i did not have the 'ESCAPE', my car would have been a ," MAZDA 3" or the " MAZDA 6 " :thumb:

Toyota had a couple little issues with this same problem about ten years ago. They took care of it inhouse without any Federal encouragements. I know because my nieghbor owned one at the time. They replaced the gas pedal then too! Could it be that we have been living with this issue under the dashboard all along, and only now they are doing something about it?

As for Honda, I haven't got the details. But I do know that they had some oil filter issues leaking down onto the exhaust pipe and the car/SUV catching fire. The current issue is for an electrical problem. They state that there are only two documented cases that they know of...OK, so what about the undocumented cases?
