Over Size Tires With The 2.5L

Hi! New member and first post. I tried searching Existing threads but didn't really find the answer to my question.
I've had 3.0L Escape a few years back and it seemed to do well with the 30" 10.5" 15" MT tires I put on it.
I recently had the chance to pick up a 2009 Mazda Tribute with the 2.5L for a song. I liked my old Escape so I jumped at the chance. This little 2.5L doesn't seem to struggle to move the truck with the stock tires.
My question is this...has anybody tried oversized tires with the 2.5L? Does the truck have enough power to spin these larger wheel sizes? Am I just asking for trouble down the road? Thanks.
