Hello Escape City,
Doing some maintenance on our 2005 Ford Escape Ltd, and found we had a pack rat enjoying the engine warmth. Wires I could fix, but I am running into one chewed up issue that baffles me. On the transmission dipstick pipe is a piece of hose hanging that is chewed through on both sides. There is just an upside down U-shaped piece hanging with one side a bit longer. I can see where the longer side is supposed to connect if I add the 10-12 inches from that side that disappeared, deep down on the engine on the firewall side. But I cannot locate where the other end is supposed to be connected. Plus, I have no idea what this hose is for, what it does, so no idea what type of replacement hose to get either, so any help and input is greatly appreciated!

Probably the transmission vent hose. One end connects to a barbed nipple on the top of the valve body cover on the front of the transmission. The other end is open to the atmosphere and is usually clipped to something around the battery hold down with the open end facing downwards.

That would make total sense! Thanks.
