Hello All....

I just got a 2001 Ford Escape and I have wanted it for so long. I own 2 mustangs and am big on Ford models.

The front bumper on the thing is a plastic material, it doesn't feel painted... however, it is "peeling" almost as if it was paint in a few spots.

I looked at replacement peices but they are expensive.

I was wondering if anybody has come up with a repair for this? Could I just have it painted flat-black? Has anyone done this?

Thanks for any advice...

You could order a decent quality front bumper for about $100-200.00. My original bumper did the same thing. I think ford may have put a coating over the bumper to make the color more consistant. You could only see the flaking when it was wet or really clean. And you had to look really close to notice it. You could also remove the bumper and spray it yourself. Some auto stores carry bumper paints in many colors. Since the paint is somewhat matte it makes it very easy to look like a professional job. I know that Advance Auto has some that matches perfect to my darker plastic.
