I'd be interested in a cost-effective part number source as well.

My Microcat DVD tops off at the 2005 model year, and the parts.com database doesn't list part numbers in their search-for-yourself diagrams (they're also slow to update, and with the Mountaineer listed under Ford, I have to wonder how accurate they are sometimes).

It didn't need one. I bought it from a seller on ebay who said it was...er...fixed.

Since the parts business is big $$$, I don't understand why manufacturers are so hush-hush about their part numbers.

That's for the handle only, BTW.

To replace all of the handles, you also need to replace the smaller, non-moving part next to the handle. Those fixed parts are called "bezels" or "caps" (some front doors have key holes, and all rear doors don't). Early Escapes and Tributes had key holes in both front doors, but all of the more recent models have a key hole only in the driver's door.

Left and right parts are the same.

Ford recently renumbered all of these handle assembly parts up to 2008 part numbers, since the exterior handles are the same on all Escapes, Tributes, and Mariners from 2001-2008+. Now that they're renumbered, they're available only in pebble-grained black, or in smooth paint-to-match textures.

The smooth paint-to-match parts:

8L8Z-7822404-BBPTM is the handle
8L8Z-78218A14-BBPTM is the cap WITH the key hole (usually only for the driver's door)
8L8Z-78218B08-BBPTM is the cap WITHOUT the key hole (for any door without a key hole)

The pebble-grain black parts:

8L8Z-7822404-AB is the handle
8L8Z-78218A14-AB is the cap WITH the key hole (usually only for the driver's door)
8L8Z-78218B08-AB is the cap WITHOUT the key hole (for any door without a key hole)

Here's the kicker: Ford did sell the smooth parts in Oxford White. You may have trouble finding these parts, since they've been superceded by the paint-to-match part numbers, and since these parts date back to 2003. But here are the Oxford White part numbers anyway, and some Ford dealer may have them lying around:

3L8Z-7822404-EAT is the handle
3L8Z-78218A14-EAP is the cap WITH the key hole (usually only for the driver's door)
3L8Z-78218B08-EAH is the cap WITHOUT the key hole (for any door without a key hole)

PS...I have factory removal and installation instructions posted already:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=929 (2008-2009 front exterior door handle removal/installation)
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=930 (2008-2009 rear exterior door handle removal/installation)

Welcome to E-C!!!

jpark,
do YOU happen to have the white handles?? If so PM or email me studmonkey at bellsouth dot net.
Uh-oh... which Ford dealer blabbed? I'll strangle them!!!

No, sorry. I found those part numbers on a 2005 Microcat DVD, and they did work as legit part numbers until the 2008 models were released.

I was going to add chrome handles (produced by a Taiwanese company and sold on eBay) to my 2005 Escape, but I sold it before I had a chance.

Hi,

Newbie here. I have a 2009 Escape Limited and I want to find the part numbers for some of the unique parts offered in the 09 Escape Sport Appearance Package. I've physically been to 3 dealers and talked to countless dealers online..........and no one can find out these part numbers. I've provided VINs of Escapes with the parts, showed them pictures and the actual Ford Sport Appearance Package brochure..........but no luck.

Specifically, I'm looking for the lower front bumper cover molding and the headlights part numbers.

The front bumper cover "molding" is the big chrome piece below the grille that has the "escape" logo depressed into it and it's the piece the license plate bracket bolts to. It's only chrome on the Limited, in the XLS and XLT it's not a seperate part as the bumper cover is a different part number. The molding on the Sport Appearance Package is a seperate part like the chrome molding of the Limited, but it's gloss black, not chrome. I can't tell from looking at it in person if it's "black chrome" or painted black. But in the parts book it only lists the chrome molding, not a paint to match or black chrome version. I really want to get this part as it will be much easier than stripping the chrome off my cover and then spraying it black.

The headlights on the Sport Appearance Package are identical to normal Escape headlights, but the internal chrome surfaces have been blacked out except for the circular lens reflector. It's subtle, but looks good with the black grille and black lower bumper molding.

So far no one has a clue on how to find these numbers..........yet the parts do exist. Someone must know how to find them. Any help would really be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
bob
I have possible part numbers for the blacked-out headlamps:

9L8Z-13008-A - Right
9L8Z-13008-B - Left

I can't verify that these are the black-trimmed headlamps right now, but I'll try. They are the only headlamps that are listed only for some 2009 Escapes.
